GEORGE I-I.-KING, or SALT LAKE crrv, UTAH.
WASHIBASIN.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, GEORGE H. KING, a citizen of the United States, residing at Salt Lake City, in the county of Salt Lake and State of Utah, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in washbasins, of which the following is a specification, reference being had to the accompanying drawings.
This invention relates to new and useful improvements in wash basins, particularly of the tiltable type. i
The object of the present invention resides in the provision of a wash basin which presents a smooth concave surface throughout and which is so mounted that it may be emptied by tilting it so that the necessity of using the usual plug and outlet, with its consequent inconveniences, is done away with.
A further object of the invention resides in the provision of such a tiltable wash bowl which may be associated with any conven- I tional form of fixed wash basin with but little modification thereof.
A still further'object of the invention resides in the provisionof such a device which may be easily operated and which comprises a minimum number of parts so that it may be readily cleansed and will prove durable in use and possess the further advantage of being capable of manufacture at a low cost.
With these and other objects in view, the invention resides more particularly in the novel combination, formation and arrangement of parts more fully hereinafter described and particularly pointed out in the appended claim.
Reference is to be had to the accompanying drawing wherein similar characters of -reference designate corresponding parts throughout the several views, in which Figure 1 is a top plan view of the tiltable basin shown in conjunction with a conventional form of fixed basin. Fig. 2 is a vertical sectional view taken on the line 22 of Fig. 1.
Referring more particularly to the accompanying drawings, there is shown a conventional form of fixed basin comprising the usual bowl 5 provided in its bottom with the outlet 6 and having the plate 7 surrounding its top edge.
The tilting basin 8 comprises a single piece of metal or other suitable material Specification of Letters Patent.

ing and actuating this ba sin, the bowl 5 is provided at one side with a socket 9 opening at the inner face of the bowl and at the top of the bowl. The bowl is provided at a point diametrically opposed to the socket with a bore 10 which has its bottom in aline- 'ment with the bottom of the socket. A band wardly of the plate 7. Fixed to the outer end ofthis shaft section is an actuating arm 14: which is grasped and rocked to tilt the basin. In operation the basin 8 is filled with water. When it is desired to empty the basin, the arm 14 is rocked and the basin swings on its pivot and discharges its contents into the bowl 5 from whence they pass through the outlet 6.
By this construction the usual unsanitary feature ofthe outlet stopper is done away with. A device has thus been provided which is eificient in use, and which may be adapted to any form of fixed wash basin with but slight modification thereof; It is also to be noted that by the use of my device, the necessity of having a supplementary channel in the basin for the discharge of the water is done away with, because by the construction and arrangement of the parts, I have invented. the basin cannot overflow owing to the fact that as the outlet in the bowl 5 is always left open should the tilting basin 8 be filled, any further supply of water, or overflow, will merely pass down into the main bowl5 and out through. the discharge outlet 6.
What I claim, is: I
