BLOWER DEVICE FOR CLEANING TUBES.

To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, HERMANN Znrrz, a subject of the Emperor of Germany, resid ing at Hamburg, Germany have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Blower Devices for Cleaning Tubes, of which the following is a specification.
My invention relates to blower devibes for removing soot, ashes, and the like from boiler tubes and particularly to those of the type in which the distance of the nozzle orifice from the tube plate can be varied in such a manner that the jet serving as the cleaning agent passes over the tube ends in a spiral path. r-
My invention resides in certain details of.
construction as willhe more particularly set forth in the description and claims which follow. The object of my invention is to make devices of the character specified more eificient as well as more convenient and certain in operation.
My invention will be better understood by referring to the drawings in.which Figures 1 and 2 show vertical sections.

The blower constructed according to the present invention (me Figs. 1 and 2) comprises a casingb arranged in fluid-tight relation to the tube a and having a flange 6 by means of-which it may be secured by screw bolts to the appropriate wall of the boiler. The casing b is further provided with a branchb, through which steam is supplied and with a cover 1 t9 which an internally threaded boss 9 is connected by the arms f.' The casing?) with its cover f and boss gserves' to receive and guide a spindle d the rear end of which is threaded to correspond with the threads-of the boss g. The spindle d is solid in the neighborhood of its threaded portion but for the remainder of its length is hollow and is provided near its rear end of the hollow portion, with a col-- sponding surface f (see Fig. '2) provided on the cover f. Behind the collar 03 the r ed, if two or more orifices, such hollow spindle is prmided with a few holes :12 which allow the steam or other fiuid used for cleaning the tubes to pass from the casing 5 into the interior of the hollow portion of the spindle (Z except when the collar d is in the position shown in Fig. 1.

Having now particularly described and ascertained the nature of my said invention and in what manner the same is to be performed, l declare that, what 1 claim is:
l, In a blower device for cleaning tubes, in combination, a hollow spindle having a nozzle orifice at one end thereof and a se rate inlet aperture, a collar upon said s3, dle adjacent to the inlet aperture upon the side toward the nozzle orifice, a fixed casing having walls which are spaced from and C011 stitute astearn tight closure about the said inlet aperture and in which casing the spindle may be axially moved, sci-Ll casing being also provided with a seat agains which lbeaforesaid collar may be aborted thereby closing said inletaperture, and an inlet for said casing adapted to be connected with a source of steam supply.
In a blower device forcleaning tubes in combination *ith a stationary casing having an inlet for the cleaning liquid to be supplied, of a spindle movably mounted in the casing and passing therethrough at both or I said spindle being hollow at its forward einl and having its rearward end screw threaded, a threaded boss on the casing enging with the il'u'eadecl end of the spindle, of an inlet port in said spindle, of a collar arranged around said inlet port, a correspondingly formed portion in the casing against which the aforenamecl collar abuts thereby closing the inlet port, when the spindle is in its rearmost position, and a discharging orifice at the forward end of the spindle.

In a blower device for cleaning tubes in combination with a stationary casing having an inletfor the cleaning liquid to be supplied, of a spindle movably mounted in the casing and passing therethrough at both ends, said spindle being hollow on its forward end and having its rear end screw llirearled, a threaded boss on the casing eugaging with 'Ehe threaded end the spindle,
sleaze-tight joints on each end of the oasing, of means for actuating said spindle, of an inlet portin said spindle, of a collar arranged around said inletport, a correspondingly formed portion in the casing against which the afore-named collar abuts, thereby closing the inlet port when the spindle is in its real-most position, and a discharging nozale on the forward end of the spindle.
