To all whom it may concern n y Be it known that I, CHARLES P. KLEE- BAUnn, a citizen of the United States, and a resident of the city of N ew York, borough of Brooklyn, in the county of Kings and State of New York, have invented a new and Improved Bag, of which the following is a full, clear, and exact description.

Among the principal objects4 which the present invention has in view are: To pro- Vide a bag suitable for carrying small articles with meansifor temporarily sealing the same; and to arrange the sealing means above-mentioned to furnish a handle or carrying device.

Figure 1 is a side view of a paper bag constructed and arranged in accordance with the present inventiomsaid bag being shown in open position; Fig. 2 is a view of an upper fragment of the bag shown in Fig. 1, the bag being shown in its closed position; Fig. 3 is a view similar to that shown in Fig. 2, showing the bag from the opposite side and in closed position; Fig. 4 isa view of an upper fragment of a bag constructed and arranged in accordance with a modified form of the invention, said bag being shown in open position; Fig. 5 is a similar view showing the bag in closed position; Fig. 6 is avvertical section, on an enlarged scale, of the preferred form of the invention, the section being taken on the median line; Fig. 7 is a similar View of the modified form of the invention.

The bags 12 shown in the drawings are preferably constructed frompaper, and are generally fragile or easily torn. In the preferred form shown in Figs. 1, 2, 3 and 6 lof the drawings, the bags are provided with stiff tabs 13. The tabs 13 are adhered to the backs of the bags and are each provided with a round eyelet 14, through which in service a loop 15 of soft, flexible cord may be threaded. AdjacentV and opening upward from the eyelets 14 are formed cuts or gaps 16. The lips of the gaps 16 normally close upon each other, and are adapted to be dislocated to permit the insertion therebetween of the loops 15, as shown best in Figs. 2 and 3 of the drawings. rlhe loops 15 are secured in any suitable manner to the closure flap 17 of each bag.

As shown in Figs. 2 and 6 of the drawings, the fastened ends 18 are preferably tion of each bag 12 and located adjacent the iap 17 when in closed or service position. Vhen thus juxtaposed, the ends of the loops 15 are threaded through the perforations 20 and eyelets 14 from the front to the back side of the bag. The loops are then drawn up into the gaps 16, the lips thereof gripping the loops 15 to prevent the retraction therefrom. The bag is now in the position shown'n Fig. 2 of the drawings, when the fingery of the shopper or person carrying the bag may be placed through the loop. The bag and its contents may in this manner be conveniently transported.

In Figs. 4, 5 and 7 of the drawings the modification consists in providing on the inside of the bag a fastening tab or reinforcement 21, which holds the fastened ends of the loops 15. The loops 15 are extended to the outside of the bag, being passed through a hole 22 provided therein. The flap 17 in the modified form of the invention has a reinforcing strip 19, as in the preferred form above described. The flap and strip are, however, perforated to provide a threading hole 23, through which in service the loop 15 is passed to the back side of the bag, as best shown in Fig. 5 of the drawings. Both sides of the bags 12, when constructed in accordance with the modified form of the invention, are provided with threading holes 24, which holes register with each other and with the holes 23 when the iiap 17 is overlaid in the closed position shown in Fig. 5 of the drawings. The loop 15, when passed through the holes 23 and 24, is handled in the same way as the loop above described as held by the tab 13 and between the lips of the gap 16 formed therein.
