Be it known that I, FRANK PERRY, a citi zen of the United States, and a resident of the city of Fresno, county of Fresno, and State of California, have invented a new and useful Improvement in Carburetors for Internal-Combustion Engines, of which the following is a specificationj My invention relates to a new and improved means foratomizing the liquid fuel used in internal combustion engines and mixing it with the air, whereby a more combustible mixture is obtained than that produced by'the carbureters heretofore in use.
In the ,drawings which accompany this specification, and which is hereby made a part hereof, Figure 1 is a side sectional view of the carburetor complete. Fig. 2 is a perspective view of 'the shutter showin the atomizer in the relative position it is p aced when the carbu'reter is assembled. Fig. 3 is an end view of the cap which covers the ends of the throttle chamber. Fig. 4 shows one form of the outer tube of the atomizer. Fig. 5 shows another form of the outer tube '--of the atomizer. Fig. 6 is the inner tube of having a bearing 18 in the center thereof ta the atomizer.
In said drawings A is a float chamber which is adapted to contain liquid fuel.
13 is the fuel intake, and 2 the float.
17 is a valve which cuts ofl the inflow of gasolene when the liquid fuel in the chamber rises to a predetermined height in the float chamber. V
B is the throttle chamber which is tubular in form and has an air intake 10.

permit axle 9 to pass throughi C is the shutter which is constructed in the form of a lateral section of a tube having one of the edges thereof cut diagonally,
which said shutter fits turnably within the throttle chamber, and having a member 19 ,in the formof a segment of a circle at each cession.
E is the atomizer which consists of an inner tube 4, constructed with a lateral slot 20 therein which when the carbureter is assembled is on the upper side and opens into the mixing chamberD. Ihner tube 4 is held In a rigid position, and when assembled is closed at both ends, and has a lead?) constructed to transmit liquid fuel from the float chamber to the inside of such inner tube 4. I I i tube 5 on said inner tube 4. Outer tube 5 is open at both ends and has lateral rows of holes 17, 22 and 23 therein. All of the holes in any one row are of approximately the same size, but each row of holes is of a different size. When throttle C is partly c osed a part of such rows of holes iscovered, as the shutter is placed within the throttle chamber so the oblique edge is adjacent'to the opening 12. The obiect of this construction is to decrease the flow of liquid fuel when the supply of'air is decreased by one movement of the shutter C. As the holes in the outer tube 5 and the slot 20 in inner tube 4 are very small, the fuel is drawn through it only by suction, and when the shutter C simply covers the holes the suction is prevented and.the fuel will not flow except from those holes which are registered with the slot2O and which are uncovered.
I claim as my invention and desire Letters Patent upon:
1. In a carburetor, the combination of a. float chamber constructed to hold liquid fuel, an inlet to such float chamber, a mixing chamber having an outlet openmgflz tothe openingbetween. the. throttle chamber and the mixing chamber, with 'the slo.t'therein opening toward such mixing chamber, a lead from; the float chamber to such inner tube constructed'to 'c'arry'liq'uid fuel from such float chamber'to such inner tube, and an outer tube constructed to fit over such inner tube, and having a plurality of holes therein, hand means for turning such outer.
