DAILY APPOINTMENT CALENDAR.
APPLIUATION PILBDAUG. 22, 1910.

DAILY APPOINTMENT-CALENDAR.
'i .crecer Specification of Letters Patent.
Application filed August 22. 1910. Serial No. 578,390.
To all whom 'it may concern:
Be it known that I, CHARLES lV. Srnavnn, a citizen ofl the vUnited States, residing in Los Angeles, inthe county of Los Angeles and State of California, have invented new a desk calendar of this type having a construction adapting it for the entry-of memoranda of future appointments and which is adapted for use in connection with a time piece indicating the moment when the appointment on the calendar falls due.
' anda left hand section 10, said right and` ln the drawing .forming a part of the annexed specification, Figure 1 is aperspect-ive showing a calendar constructed according to my invention. Fig. 2 is a view similar to Fig. 1 but showing one of the calendar leaves thrown back so that entries may be made for appointments at a future date at any hour. Fig. 3 is a vertical section taken through the calendar and through the restffor the time piece.
Referring more particularly to the parts, 4 represents a base for the calendar which is of tapered form so that it presents an in-l clined back 5. Upon this back a pad 6 is mounted, saidpad comprising a plurality of "leaves'7, which are detachably secured t`ogether atvftheir upper edges by a suitable binding 8, which permits the sheets to be torn off in'succession. Each sheet represents one day, and is formed with two divisions corresponding to t-he forenoon and afternoon respectively. These sheets are of U form, presenting a right hand section 9 left handl sections being connectedl by a transverse bottom section 1,1. l-
At the upper portion of the left section 10, the month, the day of thel month, and the year are printed together with the lettersl A. M., as shown, and at the left edge of this section the numbers 7 to 12 are placed in a vertical row, in inverted order, indicating the hours of the day from seven a. In. to twelve noon. At the right of these numbers horizontal division lines 12 are placed indicating the quarter hours after each hour. If an appointment is to be made for any given day at any given hour or quarter hour the pad may be opened at the proper point as indicated in Fig. 2, and a suitable entry made. A similar arrangement is adopted at the right hand extension 9, the month, the day vand the year being printed at the upper portion of the sheet at this point together with the letters P. M., and this side of the pad is numbered from one to six to indicate the hours of the afternoon. To the -right of these numbers division lines 13 are provided corresponding to the quarter hours and upon which entries may be made for afternoon appointments. Near the bottom edge of cach sheetthe day, year and the month are also printed in small type, as shown, and this facilitates the finding of any date in the calendar forv the entry of future appointments.
On account of the U shaped form of the sheets, the pad presents a central opening or gap Maand in this ap a block or rest 15 is mounted,'the said lock being attached rigidly to the back 5 in any suitable manner. The upper face of this block is hollowed out to form a pocket or recess 16 to receive a watch 17, and the upper portion of the pocket is provided witha hook 18 to which the ring of the watch may be attached, as shown. At the lower end, in the middle of each'sheet a blank space 19 is formed to receive advertising matter, as indicated.
lVith a calendar constructed yas described it will be ...vident that a business man at his desk may remove his watch from his pocket and place it on the rest. 15 during oiiice hours.' A glance at the pad will indicate `,the appointment for any hour or quarter hour of the day, and a glance at the watch will apprise him of the moment an appointment. falls due. `Attention is called to the fact that the hour hand of the watch points rto the sideof the .pad and toward the very ratentea reu. 2a, rois. i
