To all 'whom -z't may concern.'
Be 1t known that I, NOMAN C. BEEGLE,
a citizen of the United States, residing at Pen Argyl, in the county of Northampton, State of Pennsylvania, have invented certain new and useful Improvementsin Racks;
- and I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact -description of the invention, such as will enable others lskilled in the art zo whichvit appertains to make and use the same. y
This invention is directed to improvements in racks, and more particularly to one for holding coats. The invention has for its object to provide a device of this character which may be compaetly folded when not in use and carried in a valise from place to place,
Y A'further object of the invention `is 'to is exceedingly simple in construction and one which may be manufactured at a miniarrangement of parts to be hereinafter more fully described, claimed and illustrated in the accompanying drawing, in which Figure l is a side elevation of the device.
Fig. 2 is a yvertical sectional view through line 3 3 of Fig. 1.
Fig. 3 is a sectional view on Fig. 4 is a detail perspective viewv of one of the coat hangers.

Specification,.ofLetters Patent.,l` n Patented Oct 14,1913. llll'ppli'cation'led February 13, 19,13. Serial o. 748,160.
Aprovide a device of this character which Referring to the drawing` the numerals .1, 2 and 3 designate tubular'sections which.
are telescopieally connected and may beheld in adjusted positions by set screws 4 and 5 which are carried by the sections 2 and 3.
The lowermost section 3 is provided with sleeves G and 7, each of said sleeves carry set screws 8 and 9, respectively, so that said sleeves may be shifted upon the section 3. A plurality of legsx 10 are also provided and have their upper ends pivotally connected to the sleeve 6. Pivotally connected to the sleeve is a plurality of arms 11, the outer ends of which are pivotally connect-ed 1ntermediate the ends of the legs 10 so that i SRACK,
upon adjustment. of the sleeve 7 the legs l10 are drawn closely against the side of the sections 3 when the device is in its' folded position. y
Detachably .connected to the upper end of the section lh'is'a tubular section 12 which is provided with furcations 13 and between4 which are placed, one above the other, the members 14 which yare, formed from sheet metal and comprise base plates 15 and vertical y'side ianges 16, the ends of the base plates 15 extendingV beyond t-he end edges4 of the flanges 16. Y
The anges 16 of each member 14 are provided near their ends with apertures 20,'
in which are mounted pins- 20 which engage theeyes 21 vformedpupon the inner vends of .the garment shoulder engaging loops 22, which when in their operative position rest upon the extended ends of the,
' base plates 15, thus holding them at a proper inclination to suit the shape of the garment shoulder when the same is hung thereon.
From this construction it will be seen that the sections 1, 2 and 3 may be' telescopedso i as to adapt the same to be placed in a suit case and that the legs 10 may be folded against the sides of the low'ermost section 3. Further it will be noted that the tubular section 12 may be removed ,from the sec tion 1 andthe loops 22 folded, thus producing a device which may beeasily 'and quickly taken apart for transportation..
What is claimed is v A rack of the class described vcompr1s1ng tions, a plurality of supporting legs pivotally connected to the lowermost section, a
tul'mlai.' member detachably connected to,
a plurality .of telescopically connected secported by the furctions and having their In testlmony whereof, I aix my sigheends .terminating in hooks, flanged members ture, in thepresence of two witnesses.
