HOLDER FOR COLLAPSIBLE TUBES Specification of Letters Patent. Application filed October 28, 1912. Serial No. 728,260.
Patented Sept. 9, i19i3.
" To all whom it may concern:
siding at Waterbury,
Beit known that I, FREDERICK A. GoP-' PELT, J13, a citizen of the United States, re-
in the county of New Haven and State of Connecticut, have invented a new and useful Improvement in Holders for Collapsible Tubes; and I do hereby declare the following, when taken in connection with the accompanying drawings and the Characters of reference marked thereon, to be a full, clear, andexact description of the same, and which said drawings constitute represent, in
Figure 1 a side View of a holder for collapsible tubes constructed in accordance with my invention. Fig. 2a front view of the same. Fig. 3 a broken sectional view showing the device in side view and with the tube in theclosed position.-. Fi 4 a side view of the device with the tu e inverted, and the cap in the open position.
' This invention relates to an improvement in holders for collapsible tubes,'and par- 25 ticularly for tubes of tooth, paste, the object being to provide a holder for collapsible tubes in which [the tube is firmly held and the outer end closed, and which permits the tube to be reversed in position for the expulsion of the contents; and the invention consists in the construction hereinafter described and particularly pointed out in the claim. f Y
In carrying out my invention, I employ a suitable base 2 adapted to be secured ,to the wall or other convenient point. Swiveled to this base and projectin outward therefrom is an arm 3 provide with a threaded opening 4 ada' ted to receive and hold the usual threa ed neck 5 of a collapsible tube 6 and so that the tube will be suspended from said arm. Pivotally connected with the arm is a lever 7 carrying part of this application, and
, j ecting outward therefrom, 'vided at its outer end with a at its outer end at itsouter end a cap 9 which may he filled with cork or other suitable material 10, and which is adapted to set over the top .of the neck of a collapsible tube and so as to close the open end thereof. This lever is formed at its rear end with a'downwardly projecting tail 11 which bears upon a flat spring 12 secured to the arm. In the normal position, and as shown in Figs. 1, 2 and 3 of the drawings, the tube hangs downward from the arin and the cap closes the open end of the tube. When it is desired to expelthe contents of the tube the arm is rotated so that the tube will extend upward from it, as shown in Fig. 4 of the drawings. The cap may then be turned away from the open end of the tube and the contents discharged onto a tooth brush.- As soon as a suificient amount has been expelled the cap will be turned to its closed position and the tube will by gravity turn the arm so that the tube again hangs downward.
This device provides a convenient and attractive holder for tubes of tooth aste, and closes the open end of the tube w en not in use, so that the usual screw cap furnished with the tube may be discarded.
A holder for collapsible tubes comprising a base, an arm swiveled thereon and prosaid arm pro threaded opening to receive the threaded lapsible tube, a lever pivoted to said arm and provided at its outer end with a cap adapted to 'set over said opening.
In testimony whereof, I have signed this specification in the presence of two subscribin witnesses. v
