Description

Backlight module

The present invention relates to a backlight module, and more particularly to a backlight module having a rib.

With the advancement of technology, liquid crystal displays (LCDs) are moving toward wide screens, narrow bezels, and thin thicknesses to meet consumer demand.

In order to reduce the thickness of the display device, the light source module is often disposed on one side of the light guide plate. In addition, a part of the light guide plate is designed as a wedge type, and a thicker portion corresponds to the light source module, and more light is collected from the light source module. Such a structural form can effectively reduce the thickness of the display device.

Furthermore, in order to fix the light source module, the circuit board of the light source module is attached to the frame group and the light guide plate by a tape. However, since the portion of the light guide plate is wedge-shaped such that the attachment surface to which the flexible circuit board is attached is an inclined surface, such an attachment surface reduces the attachable area of the flexible circuit. In particular, too little attachment area can easily cause warpage of the board. Therefore, the fixing of the light source module will be affected, so that the light source cannot be aligned with the light guide plate, thereby reducing the brightness of the display device.

The present invention discloses a display module in which the ribs of the frame group are disposed in the grooves of the light guide plate to solve the problem that the light source module cannot be stably set.

An embodiment of the present invention discloses a backlight module including a light guide plate, a frame group, an adhesive layer, and a light source module. The light guide plate has a body portion connected to each other and a connecting portion, and the thickness of the connecting portion is greater than the thickness of the body portion. The connecting portion has a light incident surface, a top surface and at least one groove. The groove is recessed from the light incident surface toward the body portion and exposed to the top surface. The frame group includes a frame strip and at least one rib. The connecting portion is interposed between the frame strip and the body portion. The rib extends from the frame strip toward the light guide plate and is partially disposed in the groove and at least partially protrudes from the top surface. The layer is then placed on the frame strip and the ribs. The light source module comprises a circuit board and at least one light source, the light source is fixed on the circuit board, and the light source is located on the light incident surface. The circuit board is fixed to the frame group by the adhesive layer and disposed on the light guide plate.

Another embodiment of the present invention discloses a backlight module including a light guide plate, a frame group, an adhesive layer, and a light source module. The light guide plate has a body portion connected to each other and a connecting portion. Wherein, the connecting portion has a light incident surface, a top surface and at least one groove, and the groove penetrates into the light surface, and the top surface has a slope. The frame set includes a frame strip that is connected and at least one rib that is located in the groove. The layer is then placed on the frame strip and the ribs. The light source module comprises a circuit board, a first one of the first light source and a second light source, and the circuit board is fixed to the frame group by an adhesive layer, wherein the first light source and the second light source are both located on the light incident surface and are disposed on the circuit board. The first light source and the second light source respectively have a first illumination range and a second illumination range on the light guide plate, and a dark space may be formed between the first illumination range and the second illumination range. Zone, while the groove is in the dark zone.

In summary, according to the backlight module of the embodiment of the present disclosure, the rib of the frame group extends from the frame strip toward the light guide plate and is disposed in the groove of the light guide plate and protrudes from the slope of the light guide plate. In this way, the circuit board can be attached to the ribs and the frame strip of the frame group by the adhesive layer, thereby greatly increasing the attachment area, and the light source group can be more closely attached to the light incident surface of the light guide plate to improve the light stability. Enter the light guide plate to improve the light efficiency. At the same time, since the ribs are disposed in the dark regions formed between the illumination regions, so that the ribs do not affect the light irradiation of the light source group, the original light extraction efficiency of the backlight module can be maintained.

The present invention provides a display module for displaying a picture for a user to view. In the present invention, the display module is a thin film transistor type liquid crystal display panel module, but is not intended to limit the present invention.

The partial structure of the display device 1000 disclosed in the present invention is described below. Please refer to FIG. 1 , FIG. 2 , and FIG. 3A , wherein FIG. 1 is a partial perspective view of a display module according to an embodiment of the present invention, and FIG. 2 is A partial exploded view of a display module according to an embodiment of the present invention, and FIG. 3A is a partial top view of a display module according to an embodiment of the present invention. A display device 1000 according to an embodiment of the present invention includes a back cover 5 and a backlight module 1 , and the backlight module 1 is disposed on the back cover 5 . The backlight module 1 includes a light guide plate 10 , a frame group 2 , an adhesive layer 3 , and a light source module 4 . The light guide plate 10 and the frame group 2 are respectively disposed on the back cover 5. In this embodiment, the backlight module 1 further includes a reflective sheet 6 disposed between the light guide plate 10 and the back cover 5, and the reflective sheet 6 is for reflecting light. Further, the reflection sheet 6 has a notch 61 adjacent to the edge of the frame group 2, and a part of the frame group 2 is disposed on the back cover 5 under the notch 61. Thus, the jagged edge is formed by the notch 61, and the frame group 2 can be slidably secured to the back cover 5 while avoiding the reflection sheet 6. In this embodiment of the present invention and some other embodiments, the light source module 4 is disposed on the frame group 2 by the layer 3 And a part of the light guide plate 10.

Please refer to "Fig. 2", "3A" and "4th", and "4th" is a schematic cross-sectional view of the display module of "3A" along the cutting line 4-4. The light guide plate 10 has a body portion 11 and a connection portion 12 that are connected to each other. In this embodiment and some other embodiments, the body portion 11 and the connecting portion 12 of the light guide plate 10 are integrally formed, but are not intended to limit the present invention. Furthermore, the connecting portion 12 has a light incident surface 121, a top surface 122, a groove 123, and a first bottom surface 124. The light incident surface 121 and the top surface 122 are adjacent to each other, and the top surface 122 and the first bottom surface 124 are located on opposite sides of the connecting portion 12. The groove 123 is recessed from the light incident surface 121 toward the body portion 11 and exposed to the top surface 122. In other words, the groove 123 penetrates the light surface 121 and is exposed on the top surface 122, that is, the groove 123 is a through hole and penetrates the light surface 121 and the first bottom surface 124. The main body portion 11 has a light emitting surface 111 and a second bottom surface 112, and the light emitting surface 111 and the second bottom surface 112 face each other. The light emitting surface 111 is connected to the top surface 122 of the connecting portion 12, and the light emitting surface 111 is located on the side of the body portion 11 opposite to the connecting reflection sheet 6. An optical film (not shown) and a panel (not shown) may be stacked on the light-emitting surface 111. The second bottom surface 112 is coupled to the first bottom surface 124 and is parallel to each other in this embodiment. Further, in this embodiment and some embodiments, the top surface 122 of the connecting portion 12 has a slope 1221 and a plane 1222. The opposite sides of the plane 1222 are respectively connected to the light incident surface 121 and the slope 1221, and the slope 1221 The other side is connected to the light exit surface 111 of the body portion 11. In addition, the plane 1222 of the top surface 122 is substantially parallel to the light exit surface 111 and perpendicular to the light incident surface 121. As seen from FIG. 4, the thickness T1 of the main body portion 11 is smaller than the thickness T2 of the connecting portion 12. In detail, even The vertical distance between the first portion 124 and the plane 1222 of the joint portion 12 is greater than the vertical distance between the side of the body portion 11 connected from the reflection sheet 6 to the light exit surface 111. That is, the above-described connecting portion 12 and the body portion 11 constitute a wedge-shaped structure (as shown in FIG. 4) or a trapezoidal structure. However, the present invention is not limited thereto. In another modification, the top surface 122 of the connecting portion 12 has only the inclined surface 1221, so that the cross section of the connecting portion 12 can be a trapezoidal structure.

Please refer to "2nd drawing", "4th drawing" and "5th drawing", and "5th drawing" is a schematic cross-sectional view of the display module of "3A" along the cutting line 5-5. The frame group 2 includes a frame strip 21 and ribs 22. The frame strip 21 and the rib 22 are connected to each other, and the rib 22 extends from the frame strip 21 toward the light guide plate 10 and is partially disposed in the groove 123 and in the recess 61 and at least partially protrudes from the slope 1221 of the top surface 122. In other words, the frame strip 21 extends along the direction parallel to the light incident surface 121 of the light guide plate 10, and the rib 22 extends in the direction of the light incident surface 121 of the vertical light guide plate 10. Further, the connecting portion 12 is interposed between the frame strip 21 and the body portion 11. Further, in the embodiment and some embodiments, the rib 22 includes an extending portion 221 and a fixing portion 222. The opposite ends of the extending portion 221 are respectively connected to the frame strip 21 and the fixing portion 222, and the fixing portion 222 is located at the guiding portion. The groove 103 of the light plate 10 is inside. The shape of the fixing portion 222 corresponds to the shape of the groove 123. Referring to "3A", "4th", and "5th" together, the thickness T3 of the fixing portion 222 (as shown in FIG. 5) is substantially equal to the maximum thickness of the connecting portion 12 of the light guide plate 10. T2 (as shown in FIG. 4), that is, the fixing portion 222 is aligned with the plane 1222 of the connecting portion 12. The thickness T3 of the fixing portion 222 refers to the fixing portion 222 facing the light source module 4 from the back cover 5 . The distance between the above-mentioned connecting portions 12 and the maximum thickness T2 of the connecting portion 12 refers to the distance between the connecting portion 12 from the first bottom surface 124 to the plane 1222 of the top surface 122 in this embodiment. Thus, in the embodiment, since the fixing portion 222 is aligned with the plane 1222 of the connecting portion 12 and the contact area between the fixing portion 222 and the groove 123 is increased, the stability of the fixing portion 222 and the groove 123 can be improved. However, the above definitions of the thicknesses T2, T3 are not intended to limit the present invention. As shown in FIG. 6 , it is a schematic cross-sectional view of a display module according to another embodiment of the present invention. In other embodiments, the thickness T4 of the fixing portion 222 is smaller than the maximum of the connecting portion 12 of the light guide plate 10 . The thickness T2 (as shown in Fig. 4) has a gap G between the fixing portion 222 and the back cover 5 as shown in Fig. 6. However, the gap G between the fixing portion 222 and the back cover 5 does not affect the effect that the fixing portion 222 is engaged with the groove 123 to increase the attachment area. That is to say, when the rib 22 extends from the frame 21 toward the groove 123, the circuit board 41 can be flatly attached to the rib 22, and the structure can achieve the effect of increasing the attachment area of the present invention.

As shown in FIG. 3A, the length L1 of the fixing portion 222 is smaller than or equal to the length L2 of the connecting portion 12 of the light guide plate 10. The length L1 of the fixing portion 222 refers to a distance at which the fixing portion 222 extends from the light-incident surface 121 toward the body portion 11 from the rib 22 provided in the groove 123. In this manner, since the fixing portion 222 extends only to the connecting portion 12 and does not extend to the light-emitting surface 111 of the main body portion 11, the light-emitting efficiency of the light guide plate 10 is not affected. That is to say, the backlight module 1 of the present invention can increase the attachment area of the circuit board 41 and the stabilizing effect between the frame group 2 and the light guide plate 10 while maintaining the same light-emitting efficiency.

As shown in FIG. 3A and FIG. 3B, FIG. 3B is a partially enlarged schematic view of a frame group according to an embodiment of the present invention. As shown in the embodiment and the embodiment, the fixing portion 222 of the rib 22 is a pentagonal cylinder, and the fixing portion 222 has a first surface 2221, a second surface 2222, and a second surface 2223 which are sequentially connected to each other. The fourth surface 2224 and the fifth surface 2225, the first surface 2221, the second surface 2222, the third surface 2223, the fourth surface 2224, and the fifth surface 2225 respectively face a portion of the groove 123, the first surface 2221 and the first surface The two sides 2222 have a first obtuse angle O1, the second surface 2222 and the third surface 2223 have a second obtuse angle O2, and the third surface 2223 and the fourth surface 2224 have a third obtuse angle O3, a fourth surface 2224 and a fifth surface. 2225 has a fourth obtuse angle O4, the first surface 2221 and the second surface 2222 have a first obtuse angle O1, and the first surface 2221 and the fifth surface 2225 are substantially parallel, and the first surface 2221 and the fifth surface 2225 are substantially vertical. On the third side 2223. In the present embodiment, the rib 22 is in the shape of a mushroom, and the fixing portion 222 having a large mushroom head shape is engaged with the light guide plate 10 to strengthen the fixing force between the rib 22 and the light guide plate 10. , to reduce the situation of loose or separated.

Please return to "2nd picture", "4th picture" and "5th picture". The layer 3 is then placed on the frame strip 21 and the ribs 22. The layer 3 is then used to attach objects on the upper and lower sides (for example, the light source module 4 and the frame group 2). In this embodiment and in some embodiments, the subsequent layer 3 may be disposed on the plane 1222 of the top surface 122 of the connecting portion 12. Next, the layer 3 is, for example, a tape (double-sided tape) or an adhesive, but the type of the above-mentioned adhesive layer 3 is not intended to limit the present invention.

Please refer to "Figure 2", "3A" and "5". The light source module 4 includes a circuit board 41 and a light source group 42. In this embodiment, the light source group 42 is a plurality of light sources, and includes a first light source 421 and a second light source 422 adjacent to each other. The first light source 421 and the second light source 422 are both fixed to the circuit board 41, and the first light source 421 The second light source 422 is disposed between the ribs 22, and the light emitting surface 4211 of the first light source 421 and the light emitting surface 4221 of the second light source 422 face the light incident surface 121. The light source may be a light emitting diode, but is not intended to limit the present invention. In this embodiment, the circuit board 41 is disposed above the light guide plate 10, that is, the circuit board 41 is located on the light exit surface of the light guide plate 10, and the circuit board 41 is fixed to the frame group 2 by the adhesive layer 3, so that It is disposed on the light guide plate 10. Furthermore, the adhesive layer 3 is adhered to the frame strip 21 of the frame group 2 and the rib 22, and is more adhered to the plane 1222 of the top surface 122 of the connecting portion 12. Since the rib 22 of the frame group 2 extends from the frame strip 21 into the groove 123 of the light guide plate 10, the manner in which the rib 22 engages the groove 123 can increase the stable arrangement between the frame group 2 and the light guide plate 10, and The structure in which the rib 22 extends from the frame strip 21 to the inclined surface 1221 further increases the attachment area of the adhesive layer 3 to the frame group 2 (because the inclined surface 1221 is unfavorable for adhesion), as shown in FIG. 5. Compared with the display device without the rib 22, the present invention increases the adhesion area by 13.3%, so that the light source group 42 can be more closely attached to the light incident surface 121 of the light guide plate 10, thereby improving the light efficiency. Therefore, the present invention increases the surface area of the frame group 2 contacting the circuit board 41 (increasing the area over which the layer 3 can be attached), and the rib 22 of the frame group 2 extends into the groove 123 of the light guide plate 10, so that the circuit can be lifted. The stability of the plate 41 on the light guide plate 10 is provided.

Please refer to "3A", in this embodiment and other parts of the For example, the first light source 421 of the light source module 4 has a first illumination range Z1 on the light guide plate 10, the second light source has a second illumination range Z2 on the light guide plate 10, and the first illumination range Z1 and the second illumination range A dark area D1 can be formed between Z2. The above-mentioned irradiation range (the first irradiation range Z1 and the second irradiation range Z2) refers to a bright region formed after the light is emitted from the light source group 42 and directly reflected or enters the light guide plate 10, and the angle a1 of the irradiation range may be Between 100 and 120 degrees. In one embodiment, the angle a1 is 110 degrees. The dark area D1 refers to the first illumination range Z1 of the light source group 42 and the area that the second illumination range Z2 cannot cover. Since the groove 123 is located in the dark area D1, the rib 22 of the frame group 2 is disposed in the groove 123 of the light guide plate 10, but the arrangement of the rib 22 does not affect the light emitted from the light source group 42 in the light guide plate 10. The progress of the light guide plate 10 maintains the light extraction efficiency of the original light guide plate 10.

In addition to this, the display device 1000 of the present invention was subjected to a Uniformity experiment. Experimental Content The panel display area of the display device 1000 was divided into twenty-five regions in a five by five manner to test its uniformity (the ratio of the darkest brightness to the highest brightness value in each region). In the experimental results, the average value of the uniformity was about 84%. Its uniformity meets the specification value. Therefore, it can be confirmed that when the rib 22 is disposed and extends into the groove 123 of the light guide plate 10, the light extraction efficiency of the backlight module 1 is not affected.

The shape of the fixing portion 222 of the rib 22 is not limited to the present invention. In other embodiments, the rib 22 may have other shapes. Please refer to FIG. 7 and FIG. 8 and FIG. 7 is a partially exploded perspective view of a display module according to another embodiment of the present invention. FIG. 8 is a partial top plan view of a display module according to another embodiment of the present invention. The fixing portion 222 of the embodiment is a triangular prism. The first fixing surface 222a has a first surface 2226 and a second surface 2227 connected to each other. The first surface 2226 and the second surface 2227 are angled, and the first surface 2226 and the second surface 2227 respectively face the groove 123. In the present embodiment, the first irradiation range Z1 and the second irradiation range Z2 also do not overlap with the fixing portion 222 of the rib 22 . In this way, the light extraction efficiency of the backlight module 1 is not affected.

Please refer to FIG. 9 and FIG. 10, and FIG. 9 is a partially exploded perspective view of a display module according to still another embodiment of the present invention. FIG. 10 is a partial top plan view of a display module according to still another embodiment of the present invention. The fixing portion 222b of the present embodiment is a cylinder. The axis A1 of the fixing portion 222b is perpendicular to the normal line r of the light incident surface 121, and the diameter R1 of the fixing portion 222 is greater than or equal to the width W of the extending portion 221. In this manner, the fixing portion 222b can be attached in the up-and-down direction of the "Fig. 9". Thus, the securing of the fixing portion 222b and the groove 123 in the horizontal direction in the drawing can be increased to avoid the detachment of the fixing portion 222b.

Please refer to FIG. 11 and FIG. 12, and FIG. 11 is a partially exploded perspective view of a display module according to still another embodiment of the present invention. FIG. 12 is a partial top plan view of a display module according to still another embodiment of the present invention. The extension portion 221 and the fixing portion 222c of the present embodiment have the same size, and the fixing portion 222c is a square cylinder whose axis line A2 is perpendicular to the light incident surface 121. In this way, the extension portion 221 and the fixing portion 222c have the same size, are advantageous for fabrication, and can be installed from the bottom to the bottom in the direction shown in FIG. 12, which is advantageous for improving assembly efficiency.

In summary, according to the backlight module disclosed in the embodiment of the present invention, the rib of the frame group extends from the frame strip toward the light guide plate and is disposed in the groove of the light guide plate. And protruding from the slope of the light guide plate.

Although the present invention has been described above in terms of the preferred embodiments thereof, it is not intended to limit the present invention, and it is intended that those skilled in the art can make some modifications and refinements without departing from the spirit and scope of the present invention.
