Description
本發明係關於聚乙烯管,更特別係關於適用以製造具有改良之擠壓性之高強度管之聚乙烯組成物,及製造此管之方法。
此技術熟知由高密度聚乙烯製得的管。該管係藉熔融擠壓與填料(如,碳黑)摻合之聚乙烯而形成,藉此而在熔化階段形成的管具有所欲內和外徑及壁厚,此三者取決於用以形成此管的模具。利用此程序的一個問題在於管於冷卻之前會下垂並因此而製得欠佳的管。降低擠壓機的溫度,並藉此而降低擠壓粒的溫度,此可以部分緩解此問題。但此會導致擠壓粒的產量或單位產量欠佳,並因此而提高製管成本。此外,提高產量並降低擠壓機溫度會所不欲地提高擠壓機中的反壓。因此,將問題的焦點著眼於用以製管的聚乙烯樹脂。
最近,US6,878,454中曾描述高密度聚乙烯可以有利地經擠壓而製成具有低凝膠計數的膜,此並未解決適用於管之組成物(其包括會影響組成物性質之相當大量填料)的擠壓問題,該組成物包括相當大量的填料,其會影響組成物的性質,同時也具有其他明顯問題,例如,須要高度快速破裂散播強度。
所須者是,當高密度聚乙烯與所欲量的填料合併時,可於所欲低熔化溫度擠壓以防止下垂,並且,同時,可以夠高的產量擠壓。本發明者以具有改良的性質平衡之高密度聚乙烯解決此問題。

由2至18分克/分鐘)熔融摻合至165℃至185℃的目標滴落溫度,以形成管組成物,熔融摻合使得此管組成物包含以管組成物重量計之1至20重量%填料;及(c)擠壓此管組成物而形成管。

此處描述本發明的一個較佳具體體系係針對擠壓成管之時會具有改良性質之管組成物。所謂的"管"是指用於物質(不限於液體、氣體和可流動的固體(如,細粒))之導管,此導管具有任何適當的尺寸和形狀以執行此目的,此外,此導管可以基本上由本發明之管組成物所組成或者其一或多層或部分幾乎僅包含該管組成物。

-α烯烴衍生單元之共聚物,1-己烯或1-丁烯衍生的單元之共聚物最佳。此高密度聚乙烯以包含以共聚物重量計1至10重量%共聚單體衍生單元為佳,包含1.5至6重量%共聚單體衍生單元更佳。LMW組份以包含0.1至2重量%共聚單體衍生單元為佳,包含0.2至1.5重量%更佳。HMW組份以包含以HMW組份計為0.5至8重量%共聚單體衍生單元為佳,包含0.6至4重量%共聚單體衍生單元更佳。
較佳地,相對於整個組成物,HMW組份的量大於50重量%,另一具體體系中,介於55和75重量%之間。
一個具體體系中,高密度聚乙烯包含至少一HMW組份,此HMW組份的短鏈分枝指數由1.8至10。"分枝指數"是聚合物主鏈中,每1000個碳原子的烷基分枝量,其可藉由高密度聚乙烯的尺寸排斥層析(SEC)測定,之後以不同分子量收集各餾份並得到它們的個別1
H NMR光譜。由這些光譜,可測定分枝量。更佳的具體體系中,短鏈分枝指數由2至5。
較佳地,高密度聚乙烯包含的HMW組份之重均分子量大於60,000道耳吞(大於70,000道耳吞較佳,大於80,000道耳吞更佳)且低於1,000,000道耳吞(低於800,000道耳吞較佳)。此外,較佳地,此高密度聚乙烯包含之LMW組份的重均分子量低於60,000道耳吞,低於50,000道耳吞更佳,介於5,000和40,000道耳吞之間又更佳。這些值可藉此技術已知的技巧(如,凝膠滲透層析術,其中,各組份經辨視和解析,如此處詳述者)測定。
一個較佳具體體系中,高密度聚乙烯的分子量分佈(重均分子量/數均分子量,Mw
/Mn
)範圍由20至200,30至100更佳,35至80又更佳,其中所欲範圍可包含此處所述之任何下限和任何上限。分子量分佈可藉此技術已知的技巧(如,凝膠滲透層析法(GPC))測定。例如,MWD可藉由使用交聯的聚苯乙烯管柱藉凝膠滲透層析述測定;孔尺寸序列:1管柱低於1000埃,3管柱為混合的5x10(7)埃;1,2,4-三氯苯溶劑於145℃,使用折射指數偵測。藉"Wesslau模型"(其中可以將用於低分子量峰的β項限制於某些值,以1.4為佳,此述於E.Broyer & R.F.Abbott,Analysis of molecular weight distribution using multicomponent models,ACS SYMP.SER.(1982),197(COMPUT.APPL.POLYM.SCI.),45-64,GPC數據可以解析成高和低分子量組份。

由2至16分克/分鐘,3至14分克/分鐘較佳,4至12分克/分鐘更佳,5至10分克/分鐘最佳,其中所欲範圍可包含此處所述的任何上限和任何下限。此外,另一較佳具體體系中,高密度聚乙烯的I2 1

值(I2,2.16公斤,190℃)由60至200,80至180更佳,100至180又更佳。
此高密度聚乙烯可藉任何適當方式製造,如,漿料法、溶液法、高壓法或氣相法,且在一個具體體系中,其係藉此技術中已知的這些或其他方法的任二或更多者之組合而製得,如,已知以"階段"法製造某些聚乙烯。一個較佳具體體系中,在單一反應器中製備高密度聚乙烯,最佳地,在單一連續氣相流化床反應器中製備高密度聚乙烯。此反應器為此技術所習知並詳述於US5,352,749、5,462,999和WO 03/044061。
已經知道使用觸媒製造聚烯烴,特別是聚乙烯。此處所述的高密度聚乙可藉由在反應器中合併一或多種觸媒和可選用之活化劑(以二金屬觸媒組成物為佳)與乙烯和一或更多種α-烯烴(一個具體體系中是C3
至C1 0
α-烯烴,以1-丁烯或1-己烯為佳)並分離高密度聚乙烯而製得。
一個具體體系中,此二金屬觸媒組成物包含至少一二茂金屬化合物和至少一第3族至第10族配位化合物,此如US 6,274,684和US 6,656,868中所述者。更佳地,適當的配位錯合物是二、三或四配位且其配位用原子包括氧、氮、磷、硫或它們的組合,被配位原子包括鈦、鋯、鉿、鐵、鎳或鈀之一。最佳地,此二茂金屬和配位化合物與活化劑載於載體材料上(其以烴漿料形式為佳)並注入反應器中,可選用的第三觸媒組份一併注入以調整自彼製得之高分子量聚乙烯之性質。較佳地,使用此觸媒組成物於單一氣相反應器中製造此高密度聚乙烯。
因此,可藉此處所揭示之任何具體體系或此處所述之任何具體體系之組合交替地描述本發明之組成物和方法。參考下列實例將更瞭解本發明之具體體系但這些實例不具限制性。
用以形成本發明之高密度聚乙烯之觸媒組成物和共聚反應本發明之實例中所用的高密度聚乙烯例係藉由使乙烯和1-己烯共聚單體在單一氣相反應器中於75至95℃與觸媒組成物(包含(五甲基環戊二烯基)(丙基環戊二烯基)二氟化鋯、{[(2,3,4,5,6-Me5
C6
H2
)NCH2
CH2
]2
NH}Zr(CH2
Ph)2
和甲基鋁氧烷與矽石(Ineos ES757)載體之經噴霧乾燥的組成物)合併而製得。源自於醯胺-配位化合物的Zr與源自於二茂金屬的Zr之莫耳比由2.7至3.5。額外(五甲基環戊二烯基)(丙基環戊二烯基)二氟化鋯分別加至反應器中,以調整LMW組份的相對量,藉此”分離”LMW和HMW組份。控制此分離,使得約55重量%HMW存在(基於GPC分析且相對於總組成物計)。
所用的單一氣相流化床反應器之直徑為8英呎,床高(自分佈器”底”板至膨脹區起點)為38英呎。各次運轉期間內,生長的聚乙烯顆粒的反應床藉補充進料的連續流和循環氣體通過反應區而維持流化狀態。如附表中所示者,本發明之實例的各次聚合反應運轉皆利用目標反應器溫度(“床溫度”),即,反應器溫度約75-95℃。各次運轉期間內,藉由向上或向下調整循環氣體溫度以因應聚合反應產生的熱速率之任何改變,藉此使得反應器溫度維持大約穩定狀態。反應器的流化床由聚乙烯顆粒所構成。各運轉期間內,在反應器床進入循環氣體管線之前,乙烯和氫的氣態相進料流。注入處為循環管線熱交換機和壓縮機下游。在反應器床之前引入液體共聚單體。控制乙烯、氫和共聚單體的個別流,以維持目標反應器條件,於各實例中皆如此。藉連線層析測定氣體濃度。
所得高密度聚乙烯的性質述於附表2和3。
碳黑混合條件:試驗1. 這些樣品經混合並在配備15英吋單螺旋擠壓機和水中造粒系統的Banbury F270批次混合機中製成粒。混合機轉子(ST型)於83.5rpm運轉。本發明和比較例樣品與碳黑母料的混合時間係設定為達到目標滴落溫度170℃的時間。樹脂以Irganox 1010和Irgafos 168加以安定。經由母料添加碳黑。此含有40%碳黑和LLDPE的母料以5.6重量%添加,使得調合物中含有2.25重量%碳黑。
試驗2. 這些樣品經混合並在配備熔化幫浦和反向旋轉的雙股螺旋Kobe LCM-100中製成粒。在混合線上的產製速率是550磅/小時。此樹脂以Irganox 1010和Irgafos 168加以安定。以類似於試驗1的方式,經由母料添加碳黑。此母料組成物是35重量%碳黑、0.2重量%、Irganox 1010和64.8重量%LLDPE(各重量%係相對於整體母料組成物之重量%)。此含有35%碳黑的母料以6.5重量%添加,使得調合物中含有2.25重量%碳黑。
管擠壓條件:試驗1. 此管擠壓試驗係在Cincinnati Milacron溝槽柵擠壓機(型號CMS-90-28-GP)上進行。此螺旋是90毫米柵型螺旋。此擠壓頭係Battenfeld籃型頭。根據用於315毫米SDR 11的ISO說明書製得管。其他細節見於附表3。
試驗2. 此管擠壓試驗係在American Maplan溝槽柵擠壓機(型號SS-60-30)上進行。此螺旋是具有30:1 L/D比的60毫米柵型螺旋。此擠壓頭係籃型頭。根據用於4英吋SDR 11的ASTM說明書製得管。其他細節見於附表2。
試驗1. 本發明之調合物具有天然密度0.948克/立方公分(體密度0.958克/立方公分)且高載熔融指數I2 1
為6.3。比較例為市售雙模管樹脂,其密度約0.945-0.950克/立方公分且I2 1
約6至10克/公寸。應比較第2和4欄(相關於市售比較例和本發明之實例使用相同的rpm條件)。第4欄中,本發明之實例的單位產量較比較例高8.3%。本發明之實例的熔化溫度較低。
試驗2. 本發明之調合物具有天然密度0.948克/立方公分(體密度0.958克/立方公分)且高載熔融指數I2 1
為6.3。DGDB-2480是一種單模ASTM 3408或PE-80型樹脂,其密度是約0.944且I2 1
是8。1-3欄中所示的數據係各樣品於公稱螺旋rpm運轉所得者。相對於DGDB-2480和DGDA-2490,本發明之樣品的單位產量(磅/小時/rpm)分別提高4.2%和6.2%。所有這些樹脂於此操作條件下的熔化溫度相仿。
於本發明之申請專利範圍中之本發明特徵條件下進行試驗2。試驗1中之擠壓顯示本發明之用途及其於其他擠壓條件下之可應用性:在試驗1中,相較於包含市售雙模聚乙烯之管組成物,本發明之實例於相同公稱螺旋速率之單位產量和熔化溫度獲改良。
Claims (25)
- 一種聚乙烯管組成物,包含以組成物重量計之80至99重量%高密度聚乙烯和以組成物重量計之1至20重量%填料組成物;此填料組成物包含5至50重量%填料、95至50重量%低密度聚乙烯及0至3重量%一或多種安定劑;此高密度聚乙烯之密度為0.940至0.980克/立方公分,I21 由2至18分克/分鐘;其特徵在於管組成物擠壓時的熔化溫度Tm 滿足下列關係式:Tm 230-3.3(I21 )其中組成物亦以大於1.38公斤/小時/rpm的單位產量擠壓而形成管。

- 一種形成聚乙烯管之方法,包含(a)提供一種填料組成物,包含5至50重量%填料和95至50重量%低密度聚乙烯及0至3重量%一或多種安定劑;(b)將填料組成物和高密度聚乙烯(密度由0.940至0.980克/立方公分,I21 由2至18分克/分鐘)熔融摻合至165℃至185℃的目標滴落溫度,以形成管組成物,熔融摻合使得此管組成物包含以管組成物重量計之1至20重量%填料;及(c)擠壓此管組成物而形成管。
