Abstract
A lithium-battery protection method and its apparatus is disclosed, which is used to control the charging and discharging of the external circuit to a rechargeable battery to prevent the rechargeable battery from over-charge or over-discharge. The lithium battery protection apparatus comprises: abnormality monitoring circuit, photo-coupling circuit, equilibrium circuit and identification circuit. The abnormality monitoring circuit is used to detect voltage of the rechargeable battery and output a measuring signal; if the signal remains normal, the action of charge or discharge is maintained, while if the signal is abnormal, the action of charge or discharge is terminated. Subsequently, the equilibrium circuit judges if over-charge signals occur based on the measuring signals in order to discharge the rechargeable battery. Simultaneously, the photo-coupling circuit adjusts the impedance of photo-coupling circuit based on the measuring signals, which is used to break or turn on the connection between the rechargeable battery and the external circuit. Then, the identification circuit provides the location of battery which sends out the signals.
