Abstract

A PCI-E bus automatic allocation system is disclosed, which comprises a detection module and a switch module. The detection module detects status values of logical signals of grounds of both a first PCI-E bus socket with a larger lane width and a second PCI-E bus socket with a smaller lane width of a computer system, so as to know whether an expansion card is inserted into the first or the second PCI-E bus socket. If the detection module detects that an expansion card is inserted into the first PCI-E bus socket, but no expansion card is inserted into the second PCI-E bus socket, a switch control signal output would be generated to control the switch module to perform a switch action to provide the lane used by the second PCI-E bus socket to the first PCI-E bus socket, thereby enhancing the efficiency of PCI-E bus lanes, increasing data transmission rate, and overcoming the problem of lack of flexibility of conventional PCI-E bus design.
