Abstract

In one embodiment, an arithmetic decoder includes a sequencer for generating a content identifier for an action of an action sequence; a probability estimator for determining a value for a least likely symbol (LPS) and a probability estimate of the LPS; and a decoding engine including a slot register to assign a value to a range of LPS, where the decoding engine defines the interval value of the LPS based on probability estimation, a value stored in the interval register and the content identifier, and the decoding engine also It determines a value of a binary action as a result of decoding based on the value of the interval and the bits from an information array containing arithmetically coded data.
