Abstract
A spiral lighting device with reflector includes a spiral lighting element defining a hollow central space therein and having a lamp holder provided to a lower end thereof; a reflector being arranged in the hollow central space of the lighting element with an end received in the lamp holder, and having a reflective outer surface and an upper clamping section for coupling to the lighting element; and a lampshade externally covering the lighting element and including an upper part externally provided with a plurality of annularly spaced protrusions for easy gripping of the lampshade at the protrusions and a lower part provided on the lamp holder. With the reflector, light source from the lighting element projected toward the hollow central space can be reflected outward by the reflective surface to thereby increase the lumen value of the spiral lighting device and achieve the effect of carbon reduction.FIG. 1
Description
SPIRAL LIGHTING DEVICE WITH REFLECTOR
1. Field of the Invention
The present invention relates to a reflector structure, and more particularly to a spiral lighting device with reflector, so that light source inward projected from a spiral lighting element can be reflected outward by the reflector. 2. Description of the Prior Arts
As an illuminating device, lamp bulbs have become prerequisite to all families, schools, companies, factories, shops, hotels, etc. In the past, incandescent bulbs are most frequently used by people. However, following the technological progress in current days and the growing sense of carbon reduction, the incandescent bulbs have been gradually replaced by various types of power-saving bulbs, including global power-saving bulbs, U-tube power-saving bulbs, and spiral power-saving bulbs. Among others, the spiral power-saving bulbs have the best lighting efficiency, compared to the incandescent bulbs. Therefore, by using spiral power-saving bulbs, a user can save not only the valuable electric power but also a large amount of money for paying the electricity bill. However, for a spiral bulb, light beams are projected from the bulb in all directions (i.e. in 360°). Light beams that are projected toward the core of the spiral bulb would be shielded by the bulb itself without being fully projected to the outer side of the bulb, which would result in largely reduced lighting efficiency of the spiral bulb. It is therefore tried by the inventor to develop a spiral lamp tube (i.e. a spiral lighting element) having a reflector, so that light beams projected toward the core of the spiral lamp tube can still be fully reflected to project outward. This enables an increased lumen value of the spiral lighting element and is helpful in carbon reduction.
A primary object of the present invention is to provide a spiral lighting device with reflector, so as to overcome the drawbacks in the conventional spiral lighting devices.
To achieve the above and other objects, the spiral lighting device with reflector according to a preferred embodiment of the present invention includes: a lighting element being a spiral lamp tube defining a hollow central space therein and having a lamp holder provided to a lower end thereof; a reflector being arranged in the hollow central space of the lighting element with an end received in the lamp holder, and having a clamping section provided on a top thereof for coupling to the lighting element and a reflective outer surface; and a lampshade externally covering the lighting element and including an upper part and a lower part openably connected to each other, the lower part being provided on the lamp holder, and the upper part being externally provided with a plurality of annularly spaced protrusions.
With the reflector, light source from the lighting element projected toward the hollow central space can be reflected outward by the reflective surface to thereby effectively increase the lumen value of the spiral lighting device and achieve the effect of carbon reduction. The protrusions provided on the lampshade enable a user to stably grip the lampshade at the protrusions to apply a suitable force for tightening the upper part to the lower part.
With the above arrangements, the spiral lighting device with reflector according to the present invention is improved and practical for use and satisfies the users’ demands.
The structure and the technical means adopted by the present invention to achieve the above and other objects can be best understood by referring to the following detailed description of the preferred embodiments and the accompanying drawings, wherein

Figs. 8, 9 and 10 show some examples of lampshades with annularly spaced protrusions for the spiral lighting device of the present invention.
The present invention will now be described with some preferred embodiments thereof. For the purpose of easy to understand, elements that are the same in the preferred embodiments are denoted by the same reference numerals. It is understood the accompanying drawings are illustrated only for assisting in describing the present invention and is not necessarily in compliance with the exact or precise size proportion and part arrangement of a real product manufactured through implementing the present invention. Therefore, the size proportion and part arrangement shown in the accompanying drawings are not intended to limit the present invention, which is intended to be limited only by the appended claims.
Please refer to Figs. 1 and 2 that are exploded and assembled perspective views, respectively, of a spiral lighting device with reflector according to a preferred embodiment of the present invention, and to Fig.3 that is an assembled sectional view of Fig. 2. As shown, the spiral light device with refractor according to the preferred embodiment of the present invention includes a lighting element 1, a reflector 2, and a lampshade 3.
The lighting element 1 is a spiral lamp tube defining a hollow central space therein and having a transverse segment 10 formed on an upper center thereof.
A lamp holder 11 is provided to a lower end of the lighting element 1 for fixedly holding the latter in place. The lighting element 1 can be of any shape so long as it is spirally configured. That is, any spirally configured lighting element 1 is within the scope to be protected by the present invention. While the lighting element 1 in the illustrated preferred embodiment has a round cross-sectional shape, it is understood the lighting element 1 within the protection scope of the present invention is not restricted thereto but can have a square, a triangular, a polygonal, or any other suitable geometrical cross-sectional shape. The hollow lamp tube for forming the lighting element 1 can be a conventional T8 lamp tube having an outer diameter of 8/8” (17), a'TS lamp tube having an outer diameter of 5/8”, a T3 lamp tube having an outer diameter of 3/8”, or a T6 lamp tube having an outer diameter of 6/8”. And, the lighting element 1 can be a cold cathode fluorescent lamp (CCFL), an external electrode fluorescent lamp (EEFL), a light emitting diode (LED) lamp, or any other suitable types of lamps, which all are within the protection scope of the present invention.
The reflector 2 is arranged in the hollow central space of the lighting element 1 with an end of the reflector 2 received in the lamp holder 11. The reflector 2 has a reflective outer surface 21 capable of reflecting a light source 4 at an inner side of the lighting element 1 to an outer side of the lighting element 1, as shown in Fig. 4. The reflector 2 has a shape selected from the group consisting of a column shape and a conical shape, and is not restricted to any particular size, so long as the reflector 2 can be arranged in the hollow central space of the spiral lighting element 1. Thus, a reflector 2 having any of the above-mentioned shapes or sizes is within the protection scope of the present invention. Figs. 5, 6 and 7 illustrate some other embodiments of the present invention with different spiral lighting elements 1 and different reflectors 2.
While the reflector 2 in the illustrated preferred embodiment is a central cylinder having a round cross section, it is understood the reflector 2 within the protection scope of the present invention is not restricted thereto but can have a square, a triangular, a polygonal, or any other suitable geometrical cross-sectional shape. Further, for the reflector 2 to firmly couple to the lighting element 1, the reflector 2 has a bottom end fixedly connected to the lamp holder 11, which is also connected to the lower end of the lighting element 1. Alternatively, the reflector 2 can be further provided on a top of a detachably connected top portion 22 thereof with a clamping section 20. The clamping section 20 in the illustrated preferred embodiment is a clamp structure consisting of two facing clamping strips.
However, it is understood the clamping section 20 of the present invention is not particularly restricted to the above-described clamp structure but can be any other structure capable of clamping to the transverse segment 10 at the upper end of the lighting element 1. And, all of such suitable clamp structures are within the protection scope of the present invention. With the clamping section 20, the reflector 2 can be firmly coupled to the transverse segment 10 at the upper end of the lamp tube of the lighting element 1.
The lampshade 3 is optionally provided for covering on an outer side of the lighting element 1, and further includes an upper part 31 and a lower part 32 that can be openably connected to each other. The lower part 32 has a bottom portion provided on the lamp holder 11. The upper part 31 is located above the lower part 32 and is provided around a predetermined position with a plurality of annularly spaced protrusions 311. The lampshade 3 is an optional member. Therefore, the lighting element 1 with the lamp holder 11 can be externally provided with or without the lampshade 3 simply according to a user’s preference or habit or according to an actual usage of the lighting device. Please refer to Figs. 8, 9 and 10 that illustrate some examples of lampshades 3 with annularly spaced protrusions 311 for the spiral lighting device of the present invention. The lampshade 3 generally has a smooth and simple-designed outer surface for covering the spiral lighting element 1 to effectively save the time needed to clean the lighting element

The protrusions 311 annularly spaced around the outer surface of the upper part 31 of the lampshade 3 enable a user to well perceive and stably grip the lampshade 3 at the protrusions 311 with proper force, so that the upper part 31 can be tightly screwed to the lower part 32 of the lampshade 3 without the risk of becoming fallen and broken or becoming damaged due to uncontrollable turning force applied to the upper part 31 of the lampshade 3. Further, in the present invention, the portion of the lampshade 3 corresponding to the lighting element 1 for transmitting light can be transparent or frosted. And, colors or patterns can be further provided on the transparent or frosted portion of the lampshade 3. As to the remaining portion of the lampshade 3 that is not for transmitting light, it can be opaque. Again, please refer to the embodiments of the present invention illustrated in Figs. 5, 6 and 7.
Fig. 4 shows the light source 4 from the lighting element 1 of the present invention originally directing toward a core of the spiral lamp tube is reflected by the reflector 2 to direct outward. Since the light element 1 in the present invention is spiral-shaped and defines a hollow central space therein for mounting the reflector 2 that has a reflective outer surface 21, the light source 4 that originally directs to a core of the spiral lamp tube of the lighting element 1 and is shielded by the lamp tube would now be reflected by the reflector 2 at the center of the lighting element 1 to the outer side of the lighting element 1. Therefore, light beams radiated from the lighting element 1 in 360° would include not only the light beams being directly projected outward, but also the light beams being projected inward but refracted by the reflective surface 21 of the reflector 2 to outward project through spaces between adjacent turns of the spiral lighting element 1. In this manner, the light source 4 from the whole spiral lighting element 1 is completely projected outward to effectively increase the lumen (LM) value of or the quantity of light produced by the illuminated spiral lighting element 1. With the above arrangements, the spiral lighting device with reflector according to the present invention also provides the advantages of carbon reduction, easy to hold safely, practical for use, satisfying users’ requirements, etc.
The present invention has been described with some preferred embodiments thereof and it is understood that many changes and modifications in the described embodiments can be carried out without departing from the scope and the spirit of the invention that is intended to be limited only by the appended claims.
Claims (10)
1. A spiral light device with reflector, comprising: a lighting element being a spiral lamp tube defining a hollow central space and having a transverse segment formed on an upper center thereof, and having a lamp holder provided to a lower end thereof; and a reflector being arranged in the hollow central space of the lighting element with an end of the reflector being received in the lamp holder; the reflector having a reflective outer surface capable of reflecting a light source at an inner side of the lighting element to an outer side of the lighting element.
2. The spiral light device with reflector as claimed in claim 1, wherein the lighting element has a cross-sectional shape selected from the group consisting of a round shape, a triangular shape, and a polygonal shape.
3. The spiral light device with reflector as claimed in claim 2, wherein the lighting element is formed of a tubular material selected from the group consisting of TS, TS, T3, T6, CCFL, EEFL, and LED.
4. The spiral light device with reflector as claimed in claim 2, wherein the reflector has a shape selected from the group consisting of a column shape and a conical shape.
5. The spiral light device with reflector as claimed in claim 4, wherein the reflector has a cross-sectional shape selected from the group consisting of a round shape, a triangular shape, and a polygonal shape.
6. The spiral light device with reflector as claimed in claim 4, wherein the reflector is provided on a top thereof with a clamping section for clamping to the transverse segment of the lighting element.
7. The spiral light device with reflector as claimed in claim 6, further comprising a lampshade covering on an outer side of the lighting element.
8. The spiral light device with reflector as claimed in claim 7, wherein the lampshade includes an upper part and a lower part being openably connected to each other; the lower part having a bottom portion provided on the lamp holder, and the upper part being located above the lower part and being externally provided around a predetermined position with a plurality of annularly spaced protrusions, enabling a user to stably grip the lampshade at the protrusions.
9. The spiral light device with reflector as claimed in claim 8, wherein a portion of the lampshade corresponding to the lighting element has a structure selected from the group consisting of a transparent structure and a frosted structure.
10. The spiral light device with reflector as claimed in claim 9, wherein the portion of the lampshade corresponding to the lighting element has colors and/or patterns provided thereon.
