Abstract

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a hydrodynamic bearing having high reliability. SOLUTION: This hydrodynamic bearing is provided with a first component having a first surface and a second component having a first surface, and the surfaces are mutually movable to the other or preferably, rotatable by a small clearance provided toward the first surface. In mutual movement of the components, a pumping effect is generated in a medium such as gas or liquid provided between the surfaces so as to form a thin medium film in at least one of the mutually opposed surfaces. This bearing is so manufactured that grooved patterns 12 are provided thereby as preventing the mutual surfaces from physically contacting with each other in the mutual movement, the grooved patterns on the surface have thin coating film attached to the surface in a form of ridges 13, and the grooves 12 are formed therebetween.
