Abstract
The invention relates to sintered articles having an improved sinterability and toughness, and consisting essentially of the following constituents: 1) 100 parts by weight of titanium carbide, titanium oxide and alumina, the titanium carbide and titanium oxide amounting to 15 to 60% by weight and the alumina amounting to 85 to 40% by weight, and the quantity of titanium oxide being 5 to 15% by weight relative to titanium carbide and titanium oxide, and 2) 0.039 to 1.575 parts by weight of yttrium.
