Abstract
Safety valve (1) which has an inlet(11) and an outlet port (21), has also a valve piston(4) whose front end is provided with a concave taper(17). normally the valve is closed as the piston taper(17) is pressed against the circular valve seat(19) by the medium pressure. An auxiliary valve(6, 8) in the centre of the valve piston (4) can be opened by means of an external force, applied to an operating rod(10). The resulting medium flow through the centre hole(8) of thetaper produces a rapid pressure reduction which allows the valve piston to retract at high speed.
