Abstract

The invention concerns a method for controlling a mirror arrangement (6) in at least one direction to enable laser radiation reflected by the mirror arrangement to execute a sweeping motion in accordance with an essentially deterministic scheme. According to the method, future setpoint values of the sweeping motion are predicted for a selected time interval. Control signals for the mirror arrangement are estimated for said time interval based on the predicted setpoint values, while actual values for the time interval are estimated based on a system model and the estimated control signals. In estimating the control signals for the time interval, they are chosen in such a way that their magnitude and the magnitude of the distances between the predicted setpoint values and the associated estimated actual values for the time interval are minimized, whereupon the estimated control signal for the next time step is chosen as the current control signal for controlling the mirror arrangement.
