Abstract

The present invention relates to an oligomerisation method using a reaction device comprising a means for forming a vortex. In particular, the method relates to the oligomerisation of ethylene into linear alpha olefins such as 1-butene, 1-hexene, 1-octene or a mixture of linear alpha olefins. An object of the present invention is to provide an oligomerization process carried out at a pressure of between 0.1 and 10 MPa and at a temperature of between 30 and 200°C. One advantage of the present invention is to increase the exchange surface area between the liquid phase and the gas headspace by the formation of a stable vortex at the interface of the two phases, and thus to make it possible to increase the amount of ethylene dissolved in the liquid phase.
