Abstract
FIELD: analytical chemistry of toxicants. SUBSTANCE: analysis involves oxidation of adamsite with 20% hydrogen peroxide in a slightly alkaline (pH 7.6) medium in presence of redox indicator. Concentration of total arsenic in a sample under examination is determined by way of diluting the sample with a mixture of 25% alkali and concentrated hydrochloric acid and subsequently heating the sample and recording analytical effect. Method is distinguished with that, to mineralize the sample, acid-base reagents are used at ratio of sample to alkali and acid solutions 10:1:2 at 450 C followed by recording optical density to calculate total arsenic in the sample. Use of bipolar aprotone solvent (acetone) for aromatic amine (redox indicator) and a mixture of 30% hydrogen peroxide with 0.002 N alkali makes it possible to perform quantitative analysis of diphenylaminochloroarsine, which leads to improvement of basic metrological characteristics of the method and increase in output of mass analyses of samples by a factor of 3-4. Method may be employed in military and industrial indication and also when it is necessary to solve problems associated with destruction of chemical weapon and carrying out environmental examination on various areas. EFFECT: improved sensitivity, accuracy, reproducibility of analysis, widened accessible concentration range, and simplified procedure.
