Claims (26)
- 복수의 구동 프레임 동안 영상을 표시하는 표시패널;
상기 표시패널을 구동하는 패널 드라이버; 및
상기 패널 드라이버의 구동을 제어하는 구동 컨트롤러를 포함하고,
상기 구동 컨트롤러는,
상기 영상 신호에 근거해서 상기 표시패널을 제1 표시영역 및 제2 표시영역으로 구분하고,
상기 구동 프레임들 각각은 상기 제1 표시영역과 상기 제2 표시영역이 구동되는 풀 프레임 및 상기 제1 표시영역만이 구동되는 부분 프레임을 포함하고,
상기 각 구동 프레임에 포함되는 부분 프레임의 개수는 가변되는 표시장치. - 제1항에 있어서, 상기 구동 프레임들 중 n 번째 구동 프레임은 k 개의 부분 프레임을 포함하고, n+1 번째 구동 프레임은 j 개의 부분 프레임을 포함하며,
k와 j는 1 이상의 정수이고, k는 j와 다른 값을 갖는 표시장치 - 제2항에 있어서, 상기 n 번째 구동 프레임은 제1 지속시간을 갖고, 상기 n+1번째 구동 프레임은 제2 지속시간을 가지며,
상기 제1 및 제2 지속시간은 서로 다른 표시장치. - 제3항에 있어서, 상기 k 개의 부분 프레임 각각의 지속시간은 상기 j 개의 부분 프레임 각각의 지속시간과 다른 표시장치.
- 제1항에 있어서, 상기 부분 프레임의 지속시간은 상기 풀 프레임의 지속시간보다 짧은 표시장치.
- 제1항에 있어서, 상기 표시패널은,
복수의 데이터 라인들과 복수의 스캔 라인들에 각각 연결된 복수의 화소들을 포함하고,
상기 패널 드라이버는,
상기 복수의 데이터 라인들을 구동하는 데이터 드라이버; 및
상기 복수의 스캔 라인들을 구동하는 스캔 드라이버를 포함하는 표시장치. - 제6항에 있어서, 상기 스캔 드라이버는,
상기 풀 프레임 동안 상기 복수 개의 스캔 라인들을 순차적으로 구동하고,
상기 부분 프레임 동안 상기 복수 개의 스캔 라인들 중 상기 제1 표시 영역에 대응하는 스캔 라인들만을 순차적으로 구동하고, 상기 제2 표시영역에 대응하는 스캔 라인들의 구동을 중지하는 표시장치. - 제7항에 있어서, 상기 구동 컨트롤러는,
마스킹 신호를 상기 스캔 드라이버로 제공하고,
상기 스캔 드라이버는 상기 마스킹 신호에 응답하여 상기 제2 표시영역에 대응하는 상기 스캔 라인들의 구동을 중지하는 표시장치. - 제8항에 있어서, 상기 스캔 드라이버는 상기 복수의 스캔 라인들에 각각 대응하여 연결된 복수의 구동 스테이지들을 포함하고,
상기 복수의 구동 스테이지들 중 제1 구동 스테이지는 시작 신호를 수신하는 표시장치. - 제9항에 있어서, 상기 복수의 구동 스테이지들 각각은,
제1 스캔 신호를 제1 출력 단자로 출력하는 구동 회로; 및
상기 마스킹 신호에 응답해서 상기 제1 스캔 신호의 제2 출력 단자로의 출력을 결정하는 마스킹 회로를 포함하는 표시장치. - 제10항에 있어서,
상기 복수의 구동 스테이지들 중 j번째 구동 스테이지의 상기 제1 출력 단자는 상기 복수의 화소들 중 j번째 행에 배치된 화소들에 대응하는 스캔 라인들 중 하나에 연결되고, 상기 j번째 구동 스테이지의 상기 제2 출력 단자는 상기 복수의 화소들 중 j+1번째 행에 배치된 화소들에 대응하는 스캔 라인들 중 하나에 연결되는 표시 장치. - 제9항에 있어서, 상기 복수의 구동 스테이지들 중 상기 제1 표시영역에 연결된 제1 구동 스테이지들 중 하나는,
제1 스캔 신호를 출력 단자로 출력하는 제1 구동 회로를 포함하고,
상기 복수의 구동 스테이지들 중 상기 제2 표시영역에 연결된 제2 구동 스테이지들 각각은,
제2 스캔 신호를 제1 출력 단자로 출력하는 제2 구동 회로; 및
상기 마스킹 신호에 응답해서 상기 제2 스캔 신호의 제2 출력 단자로의 출력을 결정하는 마스킹 회로를 포함하는 표시장치. - 제9항에 있어서, 상기 시작 신호는,
상기 풀 프레임에서 제1 주기를 갖고, 상기 부분 프레임에서 제2 주기를 가지며,
상기 제2 주기는 상기 제1 주기와 다른 크기를 갖는 표시장치. - 제13항에 있어서,
상기 제1 주기는 상기 제2 주기보다 큰 표시장치. - 제1항에 있어서, 상기 표시패널은 제1 모드 또는 제2 모드로 동작하고,
상기 제1 모드에서 상기 구동 컨트롤러는 상기 영상 신호에 근거하여 상기 표시패널을 제1 표시영역 및 제2 표시영역으로 구분하고,
상기 제2 모드에서 상기 구동 컨트롤러는 상기 표시패널을 상기 제1 표시영역 및 제2 표시영역으로 구분하지 않는 표시장치. - 제15항에 있어서, 상기 제2 모드에서 상기 표시패널은 노멀 주파수로 구동되고,
상기 제1 모드에서 상기 제1 표시 영역은 상기 노멀 주파수보다 높은 구동 주파수로 구동되며, 상기 제1 모드에서 상기 제2 표시영역은 상기 노멀 주파수보다 낮은 구동 주파수로 구동되는 표시장치. - 제16항에 있어서, 상기 제1 표시 영역의 구동 주파수는 적어도 하나의 구동 프레임 단위로 가변되는 표시장치.
- 제1항에 있어서,
제1 및 제2 뱅크를 포함하는 프레임 메모리를 더 포함하고,
상기 제1 및 제2 뱅크 각각은 상기 풀 프레임에 대응하는 프레임 데이터가 기입 가능한 사이즈를 갖는 표시장치. - 제1항에 있어서, 상기 구동 컨트롤러는,
상기 풀 프레임동안 상기 제1 표시 영역 및 상기 제2 표시 영역에 대응하는 풀 데이터 신호를 상기 패널 드라이버로 제공하고, 상기 부분 프레임동안 상기 제1 표시 영역에 대응하는 부분 데이터 신호를 상기 패널 드라이버로 제공하는 표시장치. - 영상을 표시하는 표시패널;
상기 표시패널을 구동하는 패널 드라이버; 및
상기 패널 드라이버의 구동을 제어하는 구동 컨트롤러를 포함하고,
상기 구동 컨트롤러는,
상기 영상 신호에 근거해서 상기 표시패널을 제1 표시영역 및 제2 표시영역으로 구분하고, 풀 프레임동안 상기 제1 표시 영역 및 상기 제2 표시 영역에 대응하는 풀 데이터 신호를 상기 패널 드라이버로 제공하고, 상기 풀 프레임과 연속하는 부분 프레임동안 상기 제1 표시 영역에 대응하는 부분 데이터 신호를 상기 패널 드라이버로 제공하며,
두 개의 인접하는 풀 프레임 사이에 배치되는 부분 프레임의 개수는 가변되는 표시장치. - 제20항에 있어서, 상기 부분 프레임의 지속시간은 상기 풀 프레임의 지속시간보다 짧은 표시장치.
- 제20항에 있어서, 상기 표시패널은,
복수의 데이터 라인들과 복수의 스캔 라인들에 각각 연결된 복수의 화소들을 포함하고,
상기 패널 드라이버는,
상기 복수의 데이터 라인들을 구동하는 데이터 드라이버; 및
상기 복수의 스캔 라인들을 구동하는 스캔 드라이버를 포함하는 표시장치. - 제22항에 있어서, 상기 스캔 드라이버는,
상기 풀 프레임 동안 상기 복수 개의 스캔 라인들을 순차적으로 구동하고,
상기 부분 프레임 동안 상기 복수 개의 스캔 라인들 중 상기 제1 표시 영역에 대응하는 스캔 라인들만을 순차적으로 구동하고, 상기 제2 표시영역에 대응하는 스캔 라인들의 구동을 중지하는 표시장치. - 제20항에 있어서, 상기 표시패널은 제1 모드 또는 제2 모드로 동작하고,
상기 제1 모드에서 상기 구동 컨트롤러는 상기 영상 신호에 근거하여 상기 표시패널을 제1 표시영역 및 제2 표시영역으로 구분하고,
상기 제2 모드에서 상기 구동 컨트롤러는 상기 표시패널을 상기 제1 표시영역 및 제2 표시영역으로 구분하지 않는 표시장치. - 제24항에 있어서, 상기 제2 모드에서 상기 표시패널은 노멀 주파수로 구동되고,
상기 제1 모드에서 상기 제1 표시 영역은 상기 노멀 주파수보다 높은 구동 주파수로 구동되며, 상기 제1 모드에서 상기 제2 표시영역은 상기 노멀 주파수보다 낮은 구동 주파수로 구동되는 표시장치. - 제25항에 있어서, 상기 제1 표시 영역의 구동 주파수는 적어도 하나의 구동 프레임 단위로 가변되는 표시장치.
