Abstract
Description
A technique related to an apparatus for registering an electronic label for electronically displaying information of products displayed in a shop is disclosed.
An electronic information label (EIL) is an electronic device that replaces a paper label that displays product information (e.g., product name, price, origin, etc.) on a merchandise shelf in a store . The electronic label communicates with the server via a repeater. The electronic labels managed through the same repeater can form one group, the electronic labels are divided into a plurality of groups, and information is managed for each group. In order to reduce the power consumption of the electronic label supplied from the battery, the electronic label maintains a sleep state except for a wakeup period required for updating the information. Often, the display uses an electronic paper display (EPD) to maintain information display even when no power is supplied. During the wakeup period, the electronic label listens to the communication from the server and receives, stores and displays the data when there is data to be received from the server. This data includes product information.
When the electronic label is installed, information such as product information and electronic label is acquired and transmitted to the server using a terminal device such as a PDA, and the server manages the product information and the electronic label information together.
