- 전기-광학 디바이스의 결함있는 동작을 검출하는 방법에 있어서, 상기 결함 동작 검출 방법은,폴리머 분산 액정(PDLC)을, 전기-광학 디바이스 위에 놓이도록, 그리고 공극에 의해 아래에 놓인 상기 전기-광학 디바이스로부터 분리되도록, 배치하는 단계;상기 PDLC를 조사(illumination)하면서 그 위에 놓인 투명 전극에 전압을 인가하는 단계; 및상기 PDLC에 의해 투과된 광의 강도의 변화를 검출하는 단계를 포함하고,상기 PDLC는, 폴리아크릴레이트 레진과 폴리이소시아네이트 레진의 가교에 의해 형성된 폴리머 매트릭스를 포함하고, 1×1012 옴.센티미터(ohm.cm)의 최소 용적 저항과, 98% 또는 그보다 큰 전압 보전율(VHR)을 나타내는 액정을 포함하는 결함 동작 검출 방법.
- 제6항에 있어서,상기 PDLC는 박막 트랜지스터를 보유하는 유리 기판 위에 배치되는 결함 동작 검출 방법.
- 제6항에 있어서,상기 변화되는 광의 강도는 거울에 의한 입사광의 반사에 의해 검출되는 결함 동작 검출 방법.
- 제6항에 있어서,상기 PDLC는, 폴리머에 대한 액정의 비율이 실질적으로 50/50과 70/30(중량/중량) 사이인 결함 동작 검출 방법.
- 제6항에 있어서,상기 인가된 전압은, 적어도 5 마이크로미터(μm)의 공극을 가로질러 실질적으로 100 내지 320볼트(V)인 결함 동작 검출 방법.
- 제6항에 있어서,상기 폴리아크릴레이트 레진은 롬앤하스(Rohm and Haas)로부터 입수가능한 파라로이드(Paraloid) AU1033과, 독레진(Dock Resins)으로부터 입수가능한 도레스코(Doresco) TA45-8 또는 TA65-1을 포함하는 그룹으로부터 선택되는 결함 동작 검출 방법.
- 제6항에 있어서,상기 폴리이소시아네이트 레진은 바이어 폴리머스(Bayer Polymers)로부터의 데스모뒤어(Desmodur) N-75와 같은 지방성 폴리이소시아네이트를 포함하는 결함 동작 검출 방법.
- 제6항에 있어서,상기 액정은 EM 산업(EM Industries)으로부터 입수가능한 TL 계열로부터 선택되는 결함 동작 검출 방법.
- 반도체 디바이스를 검사하는 장치에 있어서, 상기 검사 장치는,반도체 디바이스를 위한 지지부;공극에 의해 상기 지지부로부터 분리된 전기-광학 변조기 - 상기 전기-광학 변조기는,상기 지지부에 인접하여 배치된 거울(mirror);상기 지지부로부터 떨어져 있는 투명 전극; 및상기 투명 전극과 상기 거울 사이에 배치된 폴리머 분산 액정(PDLC) 센서 물질을 포함하되, 상기 PDLC는 폴리아크릴레이트 레진과 폴리이소시아네이트 레진의 가교에 의해 형성된 폴리머 매트릭스를 포함하고, 1×1012 옴.센티미터(ohm.cm)의 최소 용적 저항과 98% 또는 그보다 큰 전압 보전율(VHR)을 나타내는 액정을 포함함 -;상기 투명 전극에 전압을 인가하는 동안 상기 PDLC 물질을 조사(illumination)하도록 구성된 광 소스(light source); 및상기 거울에 의해 반사된 빛의 강도를 검출하도록 구성된 검출기를 포함하는 검사 장치.
- 제14항에 있어서,상기 지지부는, 박막 트랜지스터를 보유하는 작업편을 위한 지지부를 포함하는 검사 장치.
- 제14항에 있어서,상기 공극은 실질적으로 5 내지 30 마이크로미터(μm)의 폭을 갖고, 실질적으로 100 내지 320 볼트(V)의 전압이 상기 투명 전극에 인가되도록 구성된 검사 장치.
- 제14항에 있어서,상기 액정은 EM 산업으로부터 입수가능한 TL 계열로부터 선택되는 검사 장치.
