Abstract

PURPOSE:To enhance the contact stability between a roll surface and an electrically conductive material to prevent an arc spot by forming at least a part of the conductive roll to be brought into contact with the sheet conductive material with a nonwoven sheet of conductive fibers. CONSTITUTION:The sheet conductive material is contact-guided by the conductive roll 10 provided on the inside or outside of an electrolytic cell (not shown in the figure), an electric current is applied through the roll, and the material is electrolyzed. At least a part of the conductive roll 10 to be brought into contact with the conductive material is formed with the nonwoven sheet 18 of the conductive fibers. The nonwoven sheet 18 is prepared in the form of a flange, and plural sheets are laminated on a core metal 12 and clamped by nuts 14 and 14 from both ends in the axial direction to form a roll drum 16. Besides, SUS, Al, Cu, Ni, Ti, Ta, Nb, and C respectively, their alloy, or the composite material of the elements are preferably used as the base material for the nonwoven sheet 18.

Various electrolytic treatments using this type of current-carrying roll are known, such as plating, electrolytic surface roughening, electrolytic etching, electrolytic coloring, satin finish, and electrolytic cleaning for iron and aluminum, for example. The energizing roll is used in various forms depending on the type of device inside or outside the electrolytic treatment tank, for example, for supplying power to a sheet-like conductive material or for static neutralization and grounding.

By the way, conventional energizing rolls for electrolytic treatment are generally made integrally of metal, and the outer circumferential surface thereof is, for example, mirror-finished (see, for example, Japanese Patent Laid-Open No. 55-85696).

However, the mirror-finished roll comes in contact with the entire surface of the endless sheet-shaped conductive material such as S)J, but it is not used for immersion in the electrolytic treatment tank or for the purpose of surface cooling outside the electrolytic treatment tank. When used while wet with an electrolytic treatment solution, the roll surface and the strip etc. become in an unstable contact state due to the action of the electrolyte interposed between them, and arc spots are likely to occur due to local current concentration when a large current is applied.

On the other hand, attempts have been made to bring stable contact between the roll and the strip by using so-called grooved rolls, roll nips, shot blast finished rolls, etc. whose roll surfaces have been processed. However, in these cases, it is easy for foreign matter to enter, which damages the roll surface, causing local current concentration in that area, which also tends to cause arc spots, which is the problem that the invention seeks to solve.] Conventional energized rolls for electrolytic treatment have a problem in that electrolytic solution and foreign matter enter between the roll surface and a sheet-like conductive material as a workpiece guided in contact with the roll surface, which tends to cause arc spots.

The present invention has been developed in view of these circumstances, and it is therefore possible to improve the contact stability between the roll surface and the sheet-like conductive material, thereby avoiding local current concentration due to the intrusion of foreign objects, etc., and preventing arcing. It can prevent spots,
Moreover, it is an object of the present invention to propose an energizing roll for electrolytic treatment that does not cause energization loss with the conductive material.
