Description

【発明の詳細な説明】 本発明はシール可能材料からなるウェブ乃至シートのエ
ッジを結合する方法、特にウェブ乃至シートからチュー
ブを製造する際における前記結合方法並びに該方法を実
現するための装置に関するものてある。
例えば包装技術において、容器を製造する際、包装材の
シート乃至ウェブを当該シート乃至ウェブの長手方向エ
ッジを互いに締結することによりチューブへと折り曲げ
ることがしばしば行なわれ、かくして成形されたチュー
ブは容器本体又は補強ケーシングとして種々の態様て利
用される。
前述のタイプのチューブは熱収縮性シート材を用いて成
形可能であることは周知である。そのような収縮性物質
は例えば押出された発泡プラスチックフィルムを製造の
際伸延することにより得ることが出来、その結果前記フ
ィルムは細長い伸延セルを備えたセル状構造を得る。そ
のような1伸延されたョ発泡プラスチック材例えばポリ
スチレン発泡プラスチックは当該プラスチックの軟化温
度に加熱されると収縮し、前記セルの故にその通常の球
状形状へと復帰する。前述のタイプの発泡プラスチック
材はカップ及びその類いの収縮成形に用途があり、この
場合前記材質からなる円筒乃至ケーシングは輪部を付け
たマンドレルのまわりに置かれ収縮温度に加熱されると
前記円筒乃至ケーシングは収縮し当該マンドレルの形状
になろう。カップ形状を得ている収縮ケーシングは冷却
後マンドレルから除去することが出来る。前述の一如く
、円筒状のケーシングはカップ乃至他の容器体の収縮成
形における開始素材として用いられており、このケーシ
ング自体は収縮性材質の平板シート乃至ウェブから作ら
れている。もしも前記材質がもつぱら発泡プラスチック
か.ら構成されている場合には当該材質の機械的特性は
劣つたものとなつてしまう。
というのは発泡プラスチック材はもともと剛性が比較的
低いものであるし、引張り強度が極めて低いものだから
である。もしも発泡プラスチック材を均質なプラスチ・
ツク層に積層してやれば引張り強度の観点からはずつと
良好な材質を得ることが可能であり、そのような積層材
は収縮成形に用いることが出来るのが知られている。と
いうのは外側の均質プラスチック層はこの収縮作用によ
り発泡プラスチック層とともに成形されるからである。
そのような積層材は中央のポリスチレン発泡プラスチッ
ク層と外側の均質ポリスチレン層から構成することが可
能であり、比較的に剛固てある外側層は発泡プラスチッ
クの中心層によつて分離されることにより互いに比較的
大きな距離(約1WrIn又はそれ以上)離して配置さ
れているので、当該積層材はその重量にくらべて極めて
大きな剛性をノ備えることになる。
又引張り強度特性も大いに改善されることになる。とい
うのは、均質なプラスチック層は発泡プラスチック層よ
りも実質的に高い引張り強度を備えているからである。
もしも発泡プラスチック乃至前述の積層材のシ.一トが
該シートのエッジ領域を重ね合わせることによりチュー
ブに成形された場合には、結合領域はかなりの厚味を有
することになる。
というのは発泡プラスチックを有する積層材は例えば紙
乃至均質プラスチック材の如き相対応する材質よりも゛
ほとんどの場合厚味が大きいからである。この厚肉ジョ
イント領域はある点では見苦しいし、別の点では頂部及
び底部の取付けに関して気密性の問題を呈することにな
る。というのは前記ジョイントはケーシング乃至チュー
ブの周縁にかなりの不均一性を生するからである。更に
は、前述のタイプのオーバラップジョイントにおいては
、互いに対面する積層部のみが締結され、一方オーバラ
ップジョイントの内側及び外側層のみならず中心の発泡
プラスチック層は当該ジョイントに含まれないという不
具合が生ずる。これらの不都合は本発明によつて克服す
ることができる。
本発明によるときには、熱シール可能プラスチック材か
ら成るウェブ又はシートのエッジ領域を結合するための
方法であつて、ウェブ又はシートの両エッジ領域を互い
に相手に向かつて移動させると同時に該ウェブ又はシー
トを該エッジ領域の長手方向に運動させる段階と、該ウ
ェブ又はシートの一方のエッジ領域を切断装置を通して
案内する段階と、該一方のエッジ領域の厚さ方向に中央
部分を取除いて2つのエッジラグを形成する段階と、切
断によつて形成された該エッジラグの1つを折り曲げる
段階と、他方の切断されていないエッジ領域を前記一方
の切断されたエッジ領域の中央部分内に挿入する段階と
、折り曲げられたエッジラグをもとの位置に戻して結合
領域を形成する段階と、2つの結合されたエッジ領域か
ら成る結合領域に熱を加える段階と、該結合領域を圧縮
して表面を一緒に溶融し、もつて、気密性及び機械的耐
久性を備えた結合を得る段階とを具備するウェブ又はシ
ートのエッジ領域の結合方法が提供される。
また、本発明によるときには、この結合方法を実施する
ための結合装置が提供される。
以下付図を参照して本発明のより具体的な説明を行なう
以下の説明において、成形材は伸延ポリスチレン発泡プ
ラスチックの中央層を有する積層材から構成されており
、前記中央層は両側において均質ポリスチレン材の薄肉
層により被覆されており、層厚味の分布は積層材の厚味
の少なくとも80%が中央層のみて占めており、当該積
層材の全厚味は17W1から5TWLの間にあるものと
する。
前記積層材内に含まれる層の表面積当り重量の関して言
えは、中央発泡層並びに外側均質層は30〜80y/イ
の表面積当り重量を備えている。そのような積層材の利
点は、それが同じ重量のプラスチック材でなるものに比
して大きな剛性を備えており、更に熱絶縁性に富んでい
るということてある。前述のタイプの積層材における通
常のオーバラップジョイントにおいてはジョイント領域
厚味が厚くなり、エッジがオーバラップジョイントとし
て結合されるレートの積層材から形成されたチューブ乃
至ケーシング上に見苦しい不連続部が生ずるはかりでな
く、強度がほとんどなくなつてしまう。というのはこの
場合全ての応力を支えなければならない実際の結合部は
積層材の均質な内側層とシーリング領域における外側層
との間のシーリング結合部から構成されるからである。
又積層材はそれが熱収縮性を備えるように処理されてい
る(伸延されている)ので、成形されたチューブ乃至ケ
ーシングはその横断方向に主たる収縮能力を備えている
と考えなければならない。簡明を期するために装置の方
を最初に詳細に述べ、その後に方法についての説明を行
なうことにする。第1図に示す本発明に係るケーシング
製造装置は2つの被駆動ホィール3間を移動するエンド
レスコンベアベルト1を有している。
コンベアベルト1上には例えばゴムのような弾性物質の
ブロックからなるキャリア2が配設されており、前記ブ
ロックは凹状の作業表面を備えている。コンベアベルト
1と平行して、互いに平行をなす2本の静止バー(すな
わち、静止した長手方向の支持板)4が配設されており
、該バーは凸状の転動表面を備えた幾つかのローラ7を
支持している。1つ又はそれ以上のローラ7は図示せぬ
装置即ち駆動装゛置により駆動することが出来る。
しかしながら、前記ローラ7の駆動は該駆動作用がコン
ベアベルト1の移動と同期して、キャリア2とローラ7
の加工表面との間に何らの1滑リョが無いようにしなけ
ればならない。第1図に示す装置は更に加熱装置6を有
しており、該装置6は放射熱をケーシング成形しようと
しているシート10に向けて下向きに導くための幾つか
の放射要素からなつている。
更に、第1図の装置は幾つかのガイドレール及び操舵装
置を有しており、これらについては以下付図を参照して
より詳細に説明する。本装置は更にモータ8により駆動
されたロータリカッタディスク9を含む切断手段を有し
ている。カッタディスク9と同一平面内において、かつ
カッタディスク9近傍において、切断操作中に形成され
た切断材のエッジ領域を下向きに折り曲げるための要素
及びガイドプレート14が配設されている。更に、番号
36は加熱装置を示しており、これにより熱空気をシー
リング几ようとしているケーシング材の部分に向けて吹
き出すことが出来る。又番号41及び40はそれぞれ加
圧ローラ並びにカウンタローラを示している。ケーシン
グの製造に必要とされるシート材は10による示されて
おり、完成したケーシングは符号20により示されてい
る。第1図の装置はシート10の送給側において2対の
キヤンバローラ18,19及び15,17を有しており
、これらのローラ間においてシート10が導かれると同
時に加熱要素6により加熱され、シート10はそれにカ
ーブ形状が付与されるという意味においてまずチューブ
へと成形される。第1図の断面A−Aに相当する第2図
においては、シート10が詳細には説明しない一対の送
りローラ間に導かれ、次に加熱要素6下へと搬送され、
そこでシートの1つの側が加熱され収縮させられるので
シートには7ロールアツプョの傾向が付与されることに
なる。
最初平面であつたシート10の変形は第2図に示すキヤ
ンバローラの助けをかりてコントロールされ、シート1
0が更に加熱された後該シートは第3図(第1図の断面
B−B)に示す成形ローラ15,17下に送られる。第
3図から明らかなようにローラ15は単一片から構成す
る必要はなく同一軸線上に配設された数個の別個のロー
ラから構成することが出来る。第1図の断面C−Cを示
す第4図においては、凸状加工表面5を備えたローラ7
が平行静止バー4内に固定かつ支持されている様子並び
に積層材からなるシート10がローラ7とコンベアベル
ト1のキャリア2との間に導入される様子が示されてい
る。ここに前記キャリアはサポート点16においてコン
ベアベルト1のリンクに固定されている。かくてローラ
7及びキャリア2の間に導入されたシート10は放射源
6により加熱され、放射源6に対面するシート10の側
は反対側よりん強く加熱される。その結果加熱源に対面
する側におけるプラスチック材は軟化点迄加熱され、中
央の発泡プラスチック材のセル構造は該セルが通常の球
状形状に戻るよう変化する。このことはシート10が加
熱源に対面する側に沿つて収縮することを意味しており
、シート10は実質的に横断方向にのみ収縮可能てある
故、加熱作用の効果はシート10を最初カーブ形状にし
次に円筒へと0ロールアツプョさせることになる。第5
図にはシート10がカーブ形状を得、管状形状を占めよ
うとする様子が示されてている。成形をコントロールす
るために、シート10の一方のエッジ22は長手方向に
静止パー4に固定されたガイドプレート23下へと導か
れる。図示のガイドプレート23の助けを借りた成形は
第1図の断面D−D位置において発生し、断面E上にお
いてはシートエッジ21及び22は第6図に示す態様で
、ガイドプレート23の続きを形成しているガイドバー
24のスペース25及び26内へと導かれる。成形され
たケーシング10の外側は第6図に示すように必要個所
において、例えばテフロンのような低摩擦材から作られ
ているのが好ましい外側静止支持フロック27″により
取囲まれている。
前記支持ブロック27″を介してシート10のウェブエ
ッジ21はスペース25内に挿入することが可能であり
、前記スペース25はガイドプレート23にすぐ引き続
くガイドバー24の1入口側ョにおいて当該ウェブエッ
ジの進入を容易ならしめるよう幅が広くされている。そ
の後ガイドスペース25はウェブエッジの位置を正確に
画定するために幅を狭くされている。同様にしてガイド
スペース26はガイドプレート23が順次ガイドバー2
4に近付き最終的にウェブエッジ22をガイドする割溝
乃至スペース26へと変化するよう形成されている。な
お、ガイドプレート23及び外側支持ブロック27″は
、外側支持装置を構成する。第6図の断面は第1図の断
面E上に対応している。第7図に示す第1図の断面F−
Fにおいては、ガイドバー24が変位してウェブエッジ
21が垂直方向の正確な連続位置決め作用の間露出し、
一方シート10がそのエッジ21とともにモータにより
駆動されたロータリカッタディスク9を通りガイドされ
る様子が示されている。
積層材の中央発泡プラスチック層30の厚味に等しいか
わずかに少ない幅を有するカッタディスク9は前記発泡
プラスチック層を所定の深さ迄切り取るが、一方外側の
均質プラスチック被覆層はこの切断作用によつて影響を
受けない。第1図の断面G−Gに相当する第8図にはカ
ッタディスク9の厚味に相対応する厚味を備えた固定ガ
イドプレート27がカッタディスク9と同一平面内に配
設され、均質なエッジラグ突縁31をガイドし離れたま
まに保持するべくウェブエッジ21の切り取られた断面
内へとガイドされている様子が示されている。
第1図の断面H−Hに相対応する第9図からもわかるよ
うに、ガイドプレート27にはスペース26内にシート
エッジ22のための上側支持エッジが消失するのと同時
に底部エッジラグ31を順次折り下げるガイドエッジ3
2が設けられている。
底部エッジラグ31はガイドエッジ32の助けにより9
00又はそれ以上折り曲けられており、この折り曲げ位
置に保持されている。前記底部シ1−トエツジ22は次
に順次上昇するガイドエッジ32により、第1図断面1
−1に相当する第10図に示す如く、シートエッジ21
と同一の1垂直方向位置ョへと順次ガイドされる。第1
0図においては又上側エッジラグ31が特別のガイドバ
ー34を介して少し上向きに折り曲げられる様子が示さ
れている。前記シートエッジ22はガイドエッジ33を
介して、第1図の断面J−Jをあられす第11図の位置
へとガイドされる。この位置において底部エッジラグ3
1はガイドバー35により所望の位置に戻され保持され
ており、シートエッジ22は前記ガイドバー34及び3
5の間において定位置に保持されている。第1図の断面
K−Kに対応する第12図においては、熱空気が熱空気
ノズル36の助けにより、わずかに離されたエッジラグ
31に向けてかつ又シートエッジ22のエッジ領域に向
けて吹き付けられている様子が示されている。
熱空気により均質プラスチック材(例えばポリスチレン
)のエッジラグ31のみならず前記エッジ領域22はシ
ーリング温度に迄加熱される。第13図においては、加
熱され結合されたシート10のエッジ領域21及ひ22
を加圧ローラ40及び41の間て互いに加圧せしめるこ
とにより前記エッジ領域が気密性にすぐれ機械的突耐久
性のあるジョイントとして互いにシールされる様子が示
されている。最後に、第14図においては本発明に従つ
て製造されたケーシング20内の大きく拡大したジョイ
ント部分が示されており、同図からもわかるように、シ
ートエッジ21及び22は中央の発泡プラスチック層3
0がエッジ同士を接して同一レベル上に位置しており、
一方シートエッジ21の自由エッジラグ31はシートエ
ッジ22の外側均質プラスチック層とオーバラップする
ように互いに締結されている。前述したように、エッジ
ラグ31は、シート本発明22の均質プラスチック層に
熱シールされているので、見苦しい不連続部は最少に押
えられた状態において強固なジョイントが得られている
。本発明を用いることにより、高能力の収縮性発.泡プ
ラスチックからなるプラスチックケーシングを製作可能
であり、結合部が一様かつ強固てあるために、例えば収
縮を介した連続成形によりドラム又はフラスコ状容器を
製造する等のケーシングの後加工が大いに簡単化される
前述の発泡プラスチック積層材以外の材料を用いること
も本発明の範囲内に含まれるものであり、中央積層部と
して発泡プラスチックの代りに紙又はボール紙の如き繊
維状物質を用いることも出来る。本発明の実施例の説明
においては、熱収縮性の積層ウェブ又はシートを用いる
場合について記述したが、本発明は熱収縮性の材料でな
るウェブ又はシートのみ適用されると解すべきではなく
、本発明は熱シール可能プラスチック材でなるウェブ又
はシートにひろく適用し得るものである。更には積層材
の中心層がロータリカッタディスクの助けにより除去さ
れるというのは絶対条件jではなく、前記中央層を化学
処理により切り取るか除去したり、あるいは又該中央層
を強い熱作用下にさらしてセル状織織を破壊し、発泡プ
ラスチック層が均質層間へと後退するようにしてやるこ
とも又許容される。本発明の好ましい実施例を記載する
に当つては、エッジラグ31の一方が折り下げられ、シ
ート10のエッジ22はガイドエッジ33により垂直方
向に持ち上げられるように書かれている(第9図及び第
10図並びに関連する説明を参照)が、単にラグ31を
互いに分離してシート10の端部22を水平移動又は水
平と垂直移動の組合せにより挿入してやることも可能で
ある。

Claims (1)

  1. 【特許請求の範囲】 1 熱シール可能プラスチック材から成るウェブ又はシ
    ートのエッジ領域を結合するための方法であつて、ウェ
    ブ又はシートの両エッジ領域を互いに相手に向かつて移
    動させると同時に該ウェブ又はシートを該エッジ領域の
    長手方向に運動させる段階と、該ウェブ又はシートの一
    方のエッジ領域を切断装置を通して案内する段階と、該
    一方のエッジ領域の厚さ方向に中央部分を取除いて2つ
    のエッジラグを形成する段階と、切断によつて形成され
    た該エッジラグの1つを折り曲げる段階と、他方の切断
    されていないエッジ領域を前記一方の切断されたエッジ
    領域の中央部分内に挿入する段階と、折り曲げられたエ
    ッジラグをもとの位置に戻して結合領域を形成する段階
    と、2つの結合されたエッジ領域から成る結合領域に熱
    を加える段階と、該結合領域を圧縮して表面を一緒に溶
    融し、もつて、気密性及び機械的耐久性を備えた結合を
    得る段階とを具備するウェブ又はシートのエッジ領域の
    結合方法。 2 熱シール可能プラスチック材から成るウェブ又はシ
    ートのエッジ領域を結合するための装置であつて、ウェ
    ブ又はシートを移動させ且つ支持するためのキャリアを
    備えたエンドレスコンベアベルトと、該コンベアベルト
    と協働する複数のローラであつて、ウェブ又はシートが
    該ローラと該キャリアの間に配置されるように該コンベ
    アベルトに対してほぼ平行である静止した長手方向の支
    持板に固定された複数のローラと、静止した外側支持装
    置と、前記支持板に支持されたガイドバーとを有し、該
    外側支持装置及び該ガイドバーは一緒にウェブ又はシー
    トの両エッジ領域を互いに相手に向けて案内するように
    なつており、更に、一方のエッジ領域の厚さ方向の中央
    部分を取除いて2つのエッジラグを形成するためのロー
    タリカッタディスクを含む切断装置を有し、該カッタデ
    ィスクは該コンベアベルトにほぼ平行に配設されており
    、また、該切断装置によつて形成された前記エッジラグ
    のうちの1つを折り曲げるための装置と、他方の切断さ
    れていないエッジ領域を前記一方の切断されたエッジ領
    域の中央部分内に挿入するための装置と、この挿入後に
    ウェブ又はシートの両エッジ領域を加熱し且つ圧縮する
    ための装置とを有することを特徴とするウェブ又はシー
    トのエッジ領域の結合装置。
