Abstract

PURPOSE:To restrain waste of papers to the minimum limit in case of double paper feed and to enhance efficiency in copying operation by ejecting the paper having one side not copied due to double feed out of a copying machine, without exposing a photosensitive drum by using an optical system to transfer a toner image to this paper in the second copying stage. CONSTITUTION:An image sensor 9 is arranged at a proper position on the conveyance route 8 from a both side tray 2 to the transfer section 4 of the photosensitive drum 1, and it is electrically connected through a controller 10 arranged at a proper position in the main body of a machine to the driving section 11 of the optical system to detect a paper having one side not copied due to double paper feed occurring when papers are fed from a paper feed tray 3 to the transfer section 4, from among the one side-copied papers fed from the both side tray 2 to the section 4. lの転写部4には搬送路8を設けることによりて、給紙
トレイ3内に収納した用紙9・・・を感光体ドラ11の
転写部4に送シ込み、該箇所でその片面に感光体ドラム
1の表面に形成したトナー像を転写し、定着機で該偉を
定着したのち、これを用厭ガイド7によって搬送路6方
向へと導き、両面トレイ2内へと収納して行き、しかる
のち当該両面トレイ2から搬送路8を介して前記感光体
ドラム1の転写部4へ送り込み、ここで残る片面へのト
ナー像の転写し、定着機で該像を定着したのち、搬送路
5′を介して機外の排紙トレイへと排出されるように構
成されていた。しかしながら、このような構成の電子写
真複写機には、用紙が重送したとき、これを検出する手
段が設けられていなかったため、その発見が遅れて、最
終的に得られるコピーにページ狂を発生させ、用紙を無
駄にしてしまうばかりか1重送が発生した用紙のページ
から又コピーをしなおさなければならないといった作業
の時間的ロスをも発生させてしまうといった欠点があっ
た。

レイ2から感光体ドラムlの転写部4へと送り出す用紙
中に、給紙トレイ2から感光体ドラム1の転写部4へと
用紙を送り込む際に発生した重送により片面に画像の形
成されていない用紙を検知した場合、その検知信号によ
ってコントローラ10を介して光学系の駆動部11を一

残る片面のコピーをページ順に行なってゆくことができ
るので、当該重送が発生した場合における用紙の無駄を
最小限にくいとめ、且つ従来゛の重送紙が発生した場合
のコピ一作業のように1重送を発生させた用紙の部分か
ら再びコピーのしなおしをする等といったこともなくな
るので当該両面コピ一作業が極めて能率的にできるとい
った効果を有する。
