Abstract

PURPOSE:To attain matted printing, in a thermal transfer sheet wherein a heat meltable ink layer is formed to one surface of a plastic base film, by using heat meltable ink containing a matting agent. CONSTITUTION:For example, an inorg. filler having an average particle size of 0.5mum or lees is compounded with a heat meltable ink composition. Subsequently, the resulting compound is applied onto a plastic base film by a roll coat method based on hot melt coating to form a thermal transfer ink layer. By this method, matted printing due to a thermal transfer sheet is obtained.

The matting agent is a solid in the form of fine particles, with an average particle size of 5) microns or more, preferably 2 microns or more. Generally speaking, the smaller the particle size, the better in terms of the matte effect and the eraser effect, but the smaller the particle size, the less desirable it is for ink preparation and thermal transfer. The amount of pine agent that should occupy 1,000 tons of hot-melt ink is 1,000 Φ
The range is 3 to 30%. If it is less than 3%, the matte effect will be insufficient. If it exceeds 30%, dispersion II
l 4-It is difficult to prepare good C ink5! ``If the coating becomes thin, the viscosity of the in = 1- will increase, and the coating suitability will not only decrease, but the coating will be difficult to coat, and it will easily fall off from the base film. . Therefore,
Appropriate additives are determined depending on the matting agent's matting performance and the level of matting required for the thermal transfer sheet.
