Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain a transparent and tough bottle excellent in heat resistance by a method wherein copolymer, the main acid component of which is 2,6-naphthalene dicarboxylic acid and other dicarboxylic acid and the main alcoholic component of which is ethylene glycol, is used. CONSTITUTION:The heat resistant bottle concerned is one consisting of polyethylene naphthalate terephthalate copolymer (hereinafter abbreviated as PENT) and has heat resistance, which allows high temperature contents to be contained. The main acid component of PENT is 65-98.5mol.%, preferably 85-97.5mol.of 2,6-naphthalene dicarboxylic acid component, and 35-1.5mol.%, preferably 15-2.5mol.% of other dicarboxylic acid component, while its main alcoholic component is ethylene glycol. By employing the above-mentioned PENT, the speed of crystyallization is controlled in favorable level and the preparation of preform excellent in transparency becomes possible by injection molding. The blow molded bottle has a glass transition temperature of 95 deg.C or higher without being heat-treated.
