Abstract

PURPOSE:To provide a spring which can be mass-produced and has a large effect of reducing the weight by forming the spring ring-shaped, which is made of fiber reinforced composite material where reinforced fibers are orientated in the circumferential direction in such a manner that the ring surface is a wavy form comprising a plurality of radial edge portions and trough portions. CONSTITUTION:A spring element of a wavy ring spring is formed in a wave form having a spring body 1, an edge portion 2, a trough portion 3 and the inner peripheral end 4 and outer peripheral end 5 of a ring using fiber reinforced composite material. When a coil spring receives load, the element wire is mainly subjected to torsional load. On the contrary, in case of this wavy ring spring, bending load is applied so that reinforced fiber may be orientated in the circumferential direction of the ring. Accordingly, the above wavy spring can be very simply formed by a filament winding method or a compression molding method.
