Abstract

PURPOSE:To make pumping operation performable irrespective of a suction water level by attaching a casing liner shiftably to a pump, while installing an airtight chamber in a lower part of the casing liner, and moving the casing liner via buoyancy of the airtight chamber according to the suction water level. CONSTITUTION:A casing liner 2 is movably attached to a casing 1, and, an airtight chamber 7 is formed in a bellmouth 3. Furthermore a small port 2a is installed in an axial sliding part of the casing liner 2. When a suction water lvel is in lower levels 8b, 8c than an impeller 5, sufficient buoyancy will not work in the airtight chamber 7, so that the casing liner 2 and the bellmouth 3 will go down due to their own weight. Consequently, even if this impeller 5 is rotated and control operation takes place, there is a sufficient gap between the impeller 5 and the casing liner 2, so that such a possibility that galling due to an anhydride may happen in the sliding part is preventable. The outside air is taken in from the small port 2a and thereby pumping-up of the suction water level 8b by negative pressure is preventable as well.
