Abstract
PURPOSE:To heat the reaction air to high temperature near the operating temperature and to make the temperature distribution of a cell stack uniform by supplying reaction air to a fuel cell from a starting-use burner heat exchanger as exhaust heat air when a cell stack is cooled and as exhaust heat burning gas when the cell stack is heated, for example, for low output operation. CONSTITUTION:A reaction air supply passage 30 which connects an exhaust pipe 25 of a starting-use burner heat exchanger 16 to an oxidizing agent gas chamber 6 through a stop valve 25 is installed. An exhaust pipe 31 which is branched from the reaction air supply pipe 30 and exhausts excess reaction air to the outside through a stop valve 28 is installed. Air which removed the heat from the cooling water in a heat exchanger tube 18 is changed to high temperature exhaust heat air, and supplied through the stop valve 25 as the reaction air. Excess exhaust heat air is exhausted to the outside by controlling the opening of the stop valve 28. When the temperature of a cell stack 1 is decreased, exhaust heat burning gas from the heat exchanger 16 is supplied through the stop valve 27 as reaction air.
