Abstract
PURPOSE:To obtain a polyether having excellent thermal stability, by adding a phosphorus compound to a mixture of a dihydric phenol with a dihalogenobenzenoid compound or a mixture of a halophenol with an alkaline metal carbonate. CONSTITUTION:An equimolar mixture of a dihydric phenol expressed by formula I (Y is 1-5C alkylene, etc.; R<1> and R<2> are -CH3, etc.; n1 and n2 are 0-4) with a dihalogenobenzenoid compound expressed by formula II (X and X' are halogen at the o- or p-position to Z; Z is -SO2 or -CO-; R<3> and R<4> are -CH3, etc.; n3 and n4 are 0-4) or a mixture of a halophenol expressed by formula III (X'' is halogen at the o- or p-position to A; A is 1-5C alkylene, etc.; R<5> and R<6> are -CH3, etc.; n5 and n6 are 0-4) with an alkaline metal carbonate is reacted in an organic highly polar inert solvent.
