Abstract

PURPOSE:To enable a good display screen without noise to be obtained by executing reproduction by a movable magnetic head when a output signal from the movable magnetic head is bigger than a prescribed level and executing the reproduction by a fixed magnetic head when it is smaller than the prescribed level. CONSTITUTION:When the reproduction is executed at a second speed which is different from that at recording time, the tracking of the movable magnetic heads 20 and 21 are controlled to trace on the oblique track of a magnetic tape 4. The output signals from the movable magnetic heads 20 and 21 are demodulated when they are bigger than the prescribed level but when they are smaller than the prescribed level, the output signals from the fixed magnetic heads 2a, 3a, 2b and 3b are demodulated. Therefore, the trouble that the much noise is generated at the demodulated video signal when the tracking controll is difficult is prevented and the display screen does not become a divided and compounded display screen which the video content of the plural tracks is divided and compounded. Thus the good display screen without noise can be obtained.
