Abstract
PURPOSE:To rapidly and exactly adjust a spot diameter to the incident position of a laser beam on a scanner by moving and adjusting a semiconductor laser three-dimensionaly by a means for adjusting the laser beam. CONSTITUTION:Screws 14 are loosened and a 1st supporting member 13 is moved vertically and laterally relative to a base plate 11 to bring the spot position on a photosensitive drum 8 to an adequate position at the time of moving and adjusting the semiconductor laser within the plane perpendicular to the optical axis thereof. For example, two screws, which are positioned on the diagonal lines in the optical axis direction of the laser beam, among the screws 21 provided at 4 points of a 2nd supporting member 19 are turned in the tightening or loosening direction, then the remaining two screws are likewise turned and the 2nd supporting member 17 is moved in the direction attaching and detaching to and from the base plate 21 along guide shafts 18, 18 to correct the beam diameter. The semiconductor laser 2 can, therefore, be three-dimensionaly moved and adjusted. The beam of the same diameter as the beam diameter of the semiconductor laser 1 is thereby imaged to the prescribed position by independently adjusting the spot diameter and the spot position.
