Abstract
PURPOSE:To take a measurement automatically and accurately by providing an optical path which guides light pulses into a reaction container filled with liquid and a conversion lens which is provided on the optical path and converts the light pulses into a sectorial beam to irradiate the liquid. CONSTITUTION:A prism 15 is arranged at the refraction part of a conduit 22 in the middle of the path extending from a laser light source 23 to a transparent window 14 to refract laser light by 90 deg.. Then a cylindrical lens 24 which converts the laser light into the two-dimensional sectorial beam is arranged on the optical path in front of the transparent window 14 so that their axes l1 and l2 are at right angles to the laser light. Light pulses PP are emitted by the cylindrical lens 24 as the sectorial beam SB with thickness (t) intermittently and projected into the liquid Q for a short time. For the purpose, the focus of an observation lens 25 is matched with the sectorial beam SB and the depth of field is made larger than the thickness (t) of the beam to put all particles within volume At in focus; and its image is sharp and stationary by the short- time illumination of the sectorial beam SB, and the image can be photographed by a television camera.
