Abstract

PURPOSE:To form double-layered plating having excellent electrical conductivity, corrosion resistance and heat radiatability by subjecting the surface of Mg or an Mg alloy to degreasing and cleaning, then pickling the surface with an aq. soln. contg. chromate of a specific compsn. and further subjecting the surface to an activation treatment and Zn substn. treatment, then to electroless plating of Cu, Ni, Au, etc. CONSTITUTION:After the surface of the member made of the Mg or Mg alloy is degreased and cleaned, the surface is pickled by the aq. soln. contg. 1-3mol. CrO3 and contg., in addition thereto, 0.16-0.8mol. HNO3, 0.25-1.0mol. HF or 0.12-0.35mol. NaNO3, 0.03-0.13mol. CaF2 or 0.12-0.35mol. NaNO3, 0.05-0.27mol. NH4F or 0.51-1.53mol. phosphoric acid or 0.12-0.35mol. NaNO3, and 0.01-0.24mol. NaF. The surface is in succession subjected to the activation treatment and the Zn substitution treatment and is then electroless plated with Cu, Ni, Au or Cu and Au in the double layers.
