Abstract
PURPOSE:To obtain a compact word dictionary and at the same time to increase the word recognizing speed by registering a keyword in the word dictionary for the same-phoneme/same-meaning characters and also using a table of the same-phoneme/same-meaning characters using a special character shown by the keyword as an address. CONSTITUTION:A word collating part 2 collates a candidate word composed of candidate characters received from a character recognizing part 1 with a word contained in a word dictionary. If said word in the dictionary 3 is a key one, the same-phoneme/same-meaning characters are masked for collation out of those characters which form a same-phoneme/same-meaning word. When coincidence is obtained between both words, the part 2 uses a special character shown by the keyword as an address and refers to a same-phoneme/same- meaning character table 4. Then the-same/phoneme/same-meaning candidate word is collated with the word composed by replacing successively the obtained same-phoneme/same-meaning characters with the special characters of the keyword. If the coincidence is obtained from this collation, the part 2 outputs successively the names (character codes, etc.) of the characters composing the coincident words as the results of recognition.
