Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain superior electrophotographic characteristics at the time of producing and regenerating an electrophotographic sensitive body having a selenium type inorganic photosensitive layer by buffing the surface of said photosensitive layer by a specified method in 2 steps. CONSTITUTION:The photosensitive drum 1 of the electrophotographic sensitive body is polished by the 2-step buffing treatments of the first coarse buffing carried out by arranging a grinding roll 2 so as to rotate on its axis in parallel to the axis of the photosensitive drum 1, and to rotate in the rotational direction of the drum 1, and setting the second finish buffing roll 5 so as to rotate on its axis at right angles to that of the drum 1 and to rotate in the direction of the axis of the drum 1, thus permitting the electrophotographic sensitive body subjected to said 2-step buffing treatments to undergo not deterioration in sensitivity due to the buffings, and also no trouble, such as occurrence of black streaks, at the time of forming an image.
