Abstract

PURPOSE:To aim at improvement in control precision to an amount of target slippage by enlarging a control ratio of clamping force control over a lockup device for a torque converter when transition of deceleration driving is detected. CONSTITUTION:At the time of steady driving and acceleration driving, a control device 20 controls a clamping force adjusting device 16 according to size at the specified control ratio, and it also controls a clamping force of a lockup device 5 so as to cause an amount of slippage between input and output shafts of a torque converter to become within the desired value. And, engine power is favorably transmitted to a drive shaft as effectively controlling the transfer of torque variations in an engine. In this case, at the time of transition to deceleration driving, input shaft torque of the torque converter 2 is changed to enpretorque and largely lowered so that this transition is detected by a detecting device 21. And the control ratio of the control device 20 is altered so as to make it larger by a control ratio altering device 22, and a problem of control delay of the clamping force is solved. Thus, improvement in control precision of the clamping force is promotable.
