Abstract

PURPOSE:To relieve select shock and to prevent start delay by providing a throttle effect modifying means for increasing throttle effect of an orifice with time upon lever change from neutral range to drive range. CONSTITUTION:When a lever is changed from neutral range to drive range, power transmittable state is realized through hydraulic operation of a starting friction element 1 so as to drive a vehicle. At this time, working oil for the starting friction element 1 passes through an orifice 3, and after an effect modifying means 5 is switched from neutral range to drive range, throttle effect of the orifice 3 is increased with time. Consequently, pressure of working oil for the starting friction element 1 can be risen abruptly through low initial throttle effect of the orifice 3 and the time to be elapsed before finish of operation of the starting friction element 1 can be shortened correspondingly thus eliminating start delay. Since the starting friction element 1 makes loss stroke in initial stage, tightening shock does not occur through abrupt rising of working oil pressure.
