Abstract
PURPOSE:To assume crater end by finding passing time from completion of solidification to setting position of electromagnetic ultrasonic generating and receiving unit from average temp. for thickness direction of a cast slab found by using the electromagnetic ultrasonic wave and surface temp., etc., found by actual measurement or calculation. CONSTITUTION:The average temp. Further, by finding the passing time from the completion of the solidification to the setting position of the electromagnetic ultrasonic unit with the equation from the surface temp. Ts, etc., at the above position, position of the crater end 8 is assumed. With the assumed value obtd. by this method, quality of the cast slab can be uniformized.
