Abstract

PURPOSE:To perform a mechanical cutting of a bundle band and thus attain an unmanned band cutting operation by providing the captioned apparatus with a band stripping hook member for engaging with the band and stripping the same from the bundle, a band grip member for holding the band so stripped and a band cutter for cutting off the band. CONSTITUTION:Upon carrying of a bundle 1 on a conveyor, a cylinder 17 is placed into operation to move forward both a verification member 4 and a band stripping hook member 6 and the contact of the end of the verification member 4 with the end face of the bundle 1 actuates a switch 23 to stop the operation of the cylinder 17. A stand 3 moves to the left to cause a band 5 to enter into a hook portion 24 in the band stripping hook member 6, thereby holding the movement of the stand 3. The hook member 6 pulls the band 5 to strip the same from the side of the bundle 1. At this time, a grip 34 of a grip member 7 grasps the band 5 and then a cutter 8 moves forward to cut off the band 5. The subsequent rotary action of the grip member 7 causes the band 5 to fall into a chute 50, where the same is cut into a short length by a second cutter 51 and the cut pieces are dropped into a receiving box 62 for collection.
