Abstract

PURPOSE:To secure optimum fuel pressure corresponding to fuel temperature at the time of starting by selecting pressure to be led into both vacuum chambers of a pressure regulator according to the fuel temperature at the time of starting with both first and second selector devices. CONSTITUTION:A controller 6 inputs each signal out of idle, neutral and start switches 63-65 and an engine speed sensor 66, and when fuel temperature at the time of starting to be judged by each signal out of intake air temperature and water temperature sensors 61 and 62 is lower than a second specified value, the controller leads negative pressure in a suction pipe 110 into both vacuum chambers A and B of a pressure regulator 5 by both first and second solenoid valves 7 and 8, and regulates the fuel pressure to an injector 4 to usual pressure according to intake negative pressure. Next, when it is lower than the first specified temperature and higher than the second one, atmospheric air is led into both these vacuum chambers A and B, regulating it to pressure at the time of hot starting, and when it is more than the second specified temperature, atmospheric pressure is led into the vacuum chamber A and negative pressure of a vacuum tank 9 into the vacuum chamber B, respectively, whereby pressure at the time of very hot restarting is regulated. Thus, startability is improvable.
