Abstract

PURPOSE:To automate measurement by providing line image sensors which detect the deviation quantity of toner particles so that the specific charge of the toner particles can be exactly and rapidly measured. CONSTITUTION:Two units of CCD line sensors 26, 27 are provided as the line image sensors for measuring the horizontal positions where the particles past a detecting range 28 pass are provided on the front part of a specific charge distribution measuring instrument body. A line sensor driving circuit 32, an image buffer 33 which transienty stores the information of the CCD line sensors and a CPU 34 which actually calculates the specific charge distribution of the toner particles are provided on the CCD line sensors 26, 27. The CPU 34 calculates the deviation quantity and degree of flocculation by the electric field of the toner particles and calculates the specific charge quantity of each one of the toner particles successively until finally the specific charge distribution of the toner particles is determined. The measurement is thereby automated.
