Abstract

PURPOSE:To make a monodomain and bistability compatible by subjecting one of two kinds of polyimide films having prescribed compsn. which are different in the surface conditions of the polyimide resin films to a lapping treatment. CONSTITUTION:Films of transparent ITO electrodes 3, 3' are deposited to 600Angstrom by a sputtering method on glass substrates 6, 6' sputtered with SiO2 films which are films to prevent ion elution on the liquid crystal side surfaces in order to drive the liquid crystal and a prescribed pattern is formed. The SiO2 film is deposited to 700Angstrom by sputtering on the substrate 6 side in the part except the signal taking out part of the electrode 3 as an insulating film to prevent the leak between the electrodes 3 and 3'.
