Abstract

PURPOSE:To prevent a contrast ratio from deteriorating by devising the titled circuit that each one of scanning electrode of a liquid crystal matrix panel is selected respectively between the effective scanning period and the horizontal blanking period. CONSTITUTION:A scanning signal generating circuit 112 generates a scanning signal for scanning drivers 109, 110 by using a field decision signal from a field decision circuit 106 and a control signal from a horizontal synchronizing circuit 105. That is, a scanning signal is supplied to the scanning drivers 109, 110 in such a way that odd-numbered scanning electrodes are selected in the effective scanning period in one field of the interlace scanning and even- numbered scanning electrodes are selected during the horizontal blanking period, and the even-numbered scanning electrode are selected during the effective scanning period in the other field and odd-numbered scanning electrodes are selected during the horizontal period. Since the two scanning electrodes of the liquid crystal matrix panel are selected during one horizontal scanning period in this way, the deterioration in contrast ratio is prevented.
