Abstract

NEW MATERIAL:The polyoxyalkylene derivative of formula I (B is residue of a compound having 3-20 hydroxyl groups; AO is 2-18C oxyalkylene; R is 1-24C hydrocarbon group or acyl; a is even number of 2-18; b is 0-18; c is 0-18; b and c are not 0 at the same time; m is 1-100; n is 1-100). EXAMPLE:The compound of formula II. USE:Useful as a raw material for polyester and polyurethane and as a surfactant. It can be used also as a modifier for carbonyl compound such as perfumery. The activity of the perfumery can be maintained over a long period by the use of the modifier. PREPARATION:The compound of formula I can be produced by reacting a compound having 3-20 hydroxyl groups e.g. with formaldehyde in the presence of an acidic catalyst, adding an alkylene oxide to the product in the presence of an alkaline catalyst at 80-200 deg.C under <=10kg/cm<2> pressure and subjecting the addition reaction product to dehydration, etc.
