Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain a bar code reader which obtains data with higher efficiency and reads at a high read rate by scanning plural light beams on a bar code simultaneously, and detecting respective scattered light beams. CONSTITUTION:A light beam 2 emitted by a light source 1 such as a laser is split into two light beams 21 and 22 by a beam splitter 3. The beam 21 is made incident to a hologram disk 4 as it is, and the beam 22 is reflected by reflecting mirrors 5 and 6 and is made incident to the disk 4. The disk 4 is divided into eight parts called facet and each incident light beam is scanned repeatedly every time the respective facet 41-48 pass. The light beams 21 and 22 are made incident to the facet 45 and 41 and are diffracted to be profected on the bar code through an optical system which is not shown in a figure; and projection light scattered by the surface is converged to the disk 4 and guided to sensors 9 and 10 through converging mirrors 7 and 8 provided on the optical paths of those light beams.

In this case, the optical reading method performs two or more overcrowded scans, and if there is a match among the multiple pieces of data acquired, it is considered correct and subsequent processing is performed. If matching data does not exist among the data acquired in a predetermined number of scans, processing such as instructing re-reading is performed.

(C1 Prior Art and Problems In conventional optical reading type barcode reading devices, only one light beam scans the barcode at each point in time, and when comparing multiple pieces of read data as described above) has the disadvantage that it inevitably takes the sum of the times to acquire the necessary data, which limits the reading rate.

The figure shows an outline of the configuration of a light beam scanning section in a barcode reading device according to the present invention, in which a hologram disk is used as a light beam deflection mechanism. A hologram disk has interference fringes forming a kind of diffraction grating formed on a photosensitive layer on its surface, and as the hologram disk is rotated, the interference fringes move and an incident light beam is deflected.

In the figure, a light beam 2 emitted from a light source 1 such as a laser is separated into two light beams 21 and 22 by an unahim splinter 3 such as a half mirror. In the figure, the light beam 21 is directly incident on the hologram disk 4, and the light beam 22 is reflected on the reflecting mirrors 5 and 6.
The light is reflected by the beam and enters the hologram disk 4. In the figure, the hologram disk 4 is divided into eight parts called facets, and the incident light beam is repeatedly scanned each time each facet 41, 42, 43, . . . , 48 passes.

As described above, the light beams 21 and 22 are incident on the facet 45 and the facet 41, respectively, and are diffracted, and a bar code (not shown) is generated by an optical system (not shown).
The projected light beam projected onto the barcode surface and scattered by the barcode surface is transmitted by the hologram disc 4, more precisely, the scattered light of the light beam 21 is transmitted by the facet 45, and the light beam 2
The scattered light of 2 is collected by a facet 41, and collected by focusing mirrors 7 and 8 provided on the optical path of each light beam.
This leads to Sen-4)-9 and 10.

In the case shown, two data are acquired simultaneously for one barcode using two light beams 21 and 22. In other words, twice as much data as in the case of using one conventional light beam is acquired, and when it is confirmed that matching data exists between them, reading is completed and the next process is started.

Therefore, the time it takes to obtain matching data is halved compared to the conventional method, and if you include the time for re-execution when matching data cannot be obtained, the reading efficiency is more than doubled. It will become.
