Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain a recording device having a variegated function by constituting so that a desired recording picture is obtained by not only an electric recording but also an optical recording. CONSTITUTION:In case of executing an electric recording by a multi-stylus electrode head 3, the surface potential of a recording body 2 is electrostatically charged, for instance, by -400V by an electrifier 1. Subsequently, an electrostatic latent image is formed on the recording body 2 by giving the potential corresponding to a picture information VD to each stylus of the head 3. In this case, pulse voltage of +300V is applied. In case of copying an original 10 on a platen 9 by anoptical write system 13, it is electrostatically charged by -400V in the same way by the electrifier 1, and a latent image is formed by scanning a picture by a movement of a light source 11 of the system 13, etc. In this way, the latent image formed on the recording body 2 is developed in a developing part 4, and transferred to a transfer paper 6 by a transfer electrifier 5.

Generally, a transfer-type electrostatic recording device that performs all image formation using a multi-needle electrode head (multi-stylus) is constructed as shown in FIG. The multi-needle electrode head 3 is charged with a charge corotrone and maintained at a slight distance from the surface of the recording body 2. A pulse voltage of opposite polarity to the previously charged one is applied in accordance with the image information VD. By generating discharge and removing or reducing the pre-charged charges, an electrostatic latent image corresponding to the image information VD is formed, and this is developed by the developing device 4, and then
The image is transferred onto a transfer paper 6 by a transfer corotron 5. After the transfer, the toner remaining on the recording medium 2 is removed by the cleaner 7, and the residual latent image is erased by uniform discharge by the static eliminating corotron 8, and the next image forming cycle begins.

The surface potential of the recording medium 2 is charged by the charge corotron 1 to, for example, -400V. Next, by applying a voltage corresponding to the image information VD to each needle electrode of the multi-needle electrode head 3, an electrostatic latent image corresponding to the image information is formed on the recording medium 2.

The voltage applied at this time is O■ for the image area and +30 for the non-image area.
Assume that the pulse voltage is 0V. It is assumed that the multi-needle electrode head 3 has 16 needle electrodes (80 μmφ) arranged in a staggered manner per 111111 in order to correspond δ to the degree of image consistency in the copying operation by the optical writing means 13. By applying a pulse voltage to the multi-needle electrode, the surface level of the recording medium 20 becomes 1400V in the image area, and the L car 250V in the non-image area due to the influence of carrier mobility, etc.
Thus, a suitable electrostatic contrast could be obtained.

In addition, in this embodiment, by using an optical writing system in a conventional copying machine as an optical recording means, the apparatus of this embodiment has an increased copying capability. Any other means, such as a laser scanner, may be used as long as it is capable of doing so. The point is that the latent image forming means on the recording medium may be provided with an appropriate optical recording means in addition to the electric means using a single multi-needle electrode head.
