Abstract

PURPOSE:To remarkably reduce the number of multiplications and to reduce the scale of hardware, by using an impulse response waveform of a base band filter, in a modulator generating a phase modulation signal with a digital signal processing. CONSTITUTION:When a phase information to be transmitted is inputted to a terminal 20a and a phase rotation information of carrier wave is inputted to a terminal 20b, they are summed and a synthesized phase information is generated. This synthesized phase information is inputted to a triangle function memory 22, where conversion to sine and cosine is made. The triangle functions outputted from the memory 22 are picked up via signal memories 23, 23' storing a plurality of consecutive information, and convolution is made with the orthogonal impulse response waveform of an orthogonal pass band filter stored in a waveform memory 24 in advance. The result of convolution is synthesized and outputted as a phase modulation signal.
