Abstract

PURPOSE: To obtain fine powder of silver tungstate having improved dispersibility, by adding given amounts of a higher fatty acid and a nitrate to a water- soluble silver salt, followed by reacting the salt with a tungstate.
CONSTITUTION: 0.1W10pts.wt. higher fatty acid such as 5W18C saturated fatty acid, e.g., caproic acid, enanthic acid, etc. or 12W20C unsaturated fatty acid, e.g., oleic acid, elaidic acid, etc. is added to an aqueous solution of a water-soluble silver salt (silver nitrate, silver fluoride, etc.). 0.1W10pts.wt. silver nitrate is added to the mixture, and it is reacted with tungstic acid, to give fine powder of silver tungstate. Since this powder is fine and the higher fatty acid is added to it, it has improved dispersibility.
